Celebrating all the amazing dog moms out there this Mother’s Day weekend 💕🐾

The ones who share their beds, their snacks, their schedules, and somehow still have 14,000 photos of their dog on their phone. The ones who know exactly which toy is the favorite, celebrate “gotcha days,” and would absolutely rather buy something for their dog than themselves. 😅

How My Check-In Process Works 🐾

One week before your scheduled appointment, you’ll receive a check-in text from my appointment system. This is your moment to confirm everything and let me know if you need a specific arrival window.

If you need a 4+ hour arrival window (ex: 8–12, 12–4, etc.), this is when to request it. These windows are first-come, first-served, so the earlier you respond, the better your chances of getting your preferred time.

You’re always welcome to mention a preferred window ahead of time, but I don’t lock anything in until that one-week check-in. Schedules tend to shift throughout the month, and I’ve found that a week out is when everyone has a much clearer picture of their availability.

This system helps me:
✨ Keep routes efficient
✨ Minimize drive time
✨ Stay on schedule for everyone

…and most importantly, it helps me give each pup the focused, one-on-one care they deserve 💛

If your schedule is less flexible, I highly recommend keeping an eye out for that check-in text and responding as soon as you can!

Hi everyone! With so many new faces here lately, I thought it was the perfect time to re-introduce myself and share a little bit about the person behind The Debonair Dog 🐾

I’m Kelli, the owner and groomer behind it all! I’m 36 years old and have been grooming for 17 years. Dogs have always been my passion, and getting to work with them every day is something I truly love. Building relationships with both my clients and their pups is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Outside of grooming, my world still pretty much revolves around dogs (no surprise there 😄). I stay active in a variety of dog sports with my border collie, Rory — including herding, agility, dock diving, Barn Hunt, Happy Ratters, and scentwork. If it involves dogs and being outside, I’m all in.

When I’m not working or training, you’ll usually find me in my garden. Plants are my other passion, and I love growing my own produce — especially tomatoes. There’s just something about being outside, getting your hands dirty, and watching things grow.

I also love hiking, kayaking, camping, fishing… pretty much anything outdoors. I even like to dabble in photography, especially when it involves dogs or nature 📸 And above all, my family means everything to me ❤️

At home, I’ve got a full little crew: one dog, two cats, one ball python (Nacho!), three rats, and a betta sorority 🐟

And a fun fact… I have a serious sweet tooth — peanut butter + chocolate is my absolute favorite 🍫🥜

As my schedule continues to evolve, I’ve officially expanded my service area to include a few additional locations I’ve already been servicing on a limited basis.

📍 In addition to Chesterfield & Ballwin, I’m now accepting a small number of clients in:
• Hazelwood (63042)
• Florissant (63031)
• Valley Park (63088)
• Des Peres / Frontenac area (63131)

These areas are currently worked into my schedule on a monthly route, with limited availability to maintain a low-stress, one-on-one grooming experience for each pup.

At The Debonair Dog, I’ve made a very intentional decision to keep my business small.

I don’t want to spread myself too thin. I don’t want rushed appointments, overbooked days, or your dog feeling like just another number.

And I’ve also chosen not to expand into a multi-groomer business.

Because for me, this isn’t just a job… it’s everything I’ve built.

When you run a larger operation, there’s always a level of separation. Employees come and go, and while many are wonderful, no one will ever be as personally invested as the person whose name is on the business.

Every dog I groom reflects my work, my standards, and my reputation.

Every groom includes something most people don’t even realize… a full-body health check 🐾

While your pup is getting pampered, I’m also:
• Checking ears for early signs of infection
• Looking closely at skin for irritation, hot spots, or unusual changes
• Feeling for lumps, bumps, or anything new
• Noticing things like parasites, sores, or areas of discomfort

Over the years, I’ve caught ear infections, skin infections, and even masses that turned out to be cancer — things that may have gone unnoticed otherwise.

Dogs can’t tell us when something feels off.
But regular grooming means regular hands-on checks… and sometimes, that early catch can make all the difference.

This is one of the reasons I strongly recommend staying on a consistent grooming schedule — not just for looks, but for your dog’s overall health and comfort.

Some days this job gives you more than just wagging tails… it gives you truly incredible humans too 🥹🐾

A very sweet client surprised me with this beautiful “blessing” basket and I’m still smiling about it. Chocolates, body wash, loofahs, a candle, a card, and even a daily scripture book… every little detail was so thoughtful. And can we talk about how cute the basket is?! 💐

It means more than I can put into words to feel appreciated and cared for like this. I’m so grateful for the amazing people (and pups!) I get to work with every day.
