🚨 We are 100% full. 🚨
We know you see posts from shelters saying they’re full all the time. We know it can start to feel like background noise.
But we really need you to hear us today.
CARE is not almost full. We’re not running low on space. Every available space for every animal is occupied. Our indoor spaces are full. Our outdoor spaces are full. Dogs and cats. In fact we are at 140% capacity! There is nowhere else to put them.
So what happens when the next animal arrives?
Where do they go?
As St. Louis City’s only municipal shelter, animals continue to come through our doors even when we’re out of room. And they are coming in.
That means we need animals leaving at the same pace animals are coming in.
Being out of space puts us in an impossible position. We want every animal who comes through our doors to have the time and opportunity to find their way back home, into a foster home, to an adopter, or to one of our rescue partners.
We want the answer to be adoption. We want it to be foster. We want it to be rescue. We want animals leaving through our front doors so there is a safe place waiting for the next animal who comes through the back.
‼️ And right now, we need all of those things happening.
Our Fill the Pantry, Find a Friend special is happening now. Bring an item from the wish list we shared earlier and receive half off your adoption fee. You’ll help stock our Community Pet Pantry AND help make room at the shelter.
🏠 Fostering is always free, and even a temporary foster opens a space.
🐾 And we have everyone here. Small dogs and big dogs. Puppies and seniors. Kittens and adult cats. Animals looking for adventure and animals who would be perfectly happy hanging out on your couch.
If you’ve been thinking about adopting, fostering, or becoming a rescue partner, this is the time.
We’re open daily from 11 AM–6 PM.
❤️ Help us make room for the next animal who needs us.
