🐴 Whether you like me or hate me, one thing you can’t say is that I don’t put everything I have into my work. And THIS mare’s progress speaks for itself. 🙌
This is exactly why I am such a huge believer in taking before-and-after pictures.
When we see the same horse regularly, it’s easy to get stuck looking at what still needs to change. Sometimes it feels like we aren’t making progress at all—until you put those pictures side by side and realize just how much HAS changed.
I worked on this mare again today, and before I even started, one thing immediately stood out to me:
She was standing square and looking much more comfortable in her body. ❤️
During today's session, I decided to incorporate my pulse machine along with massage. I felt like there were deeper areas I wanted some additional help addressing, so I combined the two and also spent some time working around the hock.
Then we took the after pictures.
I just finished putting them side by side and all I could say was…
WOW.
And it isn't just me noticing the changes.
Her owner is thrilled with her progress, and she told me today that she has shared the pictures with her veterinarian, who was also very impressed with the improvements she is seeing in this mare.
We originally had concerns about what appeared to be a hip issue, but as we continue working with her and see improvement around the hock, we're also seeing changes throughout the rest of her body. That has us questioning whether some of what we were seeing higher up may have been compensation related to the hock rather than a primary hip problem.
This is the Domino Effect I am always talking about.
Sometimes where you SEE the problem isn't necessarily where the story started. You have to learn how to look at the entire horse, put the pieces together, and keep asking WHY.
And THIS is exactly why I enjoy teaching so much!
I don't just want my students to memorize muscles or learn a massage routine. I want them to learn how to look at a horse, recognize changes, connect the pieces, and understand why they may be seeing what they're seeing.
If you want to learn how to work toward these kinds of changes with horses, come take one of my classes or get into my PKS Domino Effect Eyeballing class.
My Eyeballing class teaches you how to start putting those puzzle pieces together instead of simply guessing what you're looking at.
But I will always say that my hands-on classes are the BEST way to learn.
Why?
Because you're standing right there.
You can look at the horse before we start.
You can put your hands on the horse.
You can watch me work.
You can ask questions as things happen.
And then you can step back and watch that horse's body change in real time.
A video is a wonderful learning tool, but there is something completely different about watching those changes happen right in front of you.
That's the part of teaching that I LOVE.
We're not finished with this mare yet. There is still work to do, and I'm not going to pretend we know exactly where this journey will end.
But right now?
I'm incredibly excited about the direction she's going. ❤️
Sometimes you have to stop looking at how far you still have to go…and look back at how incredibly far you've already come.
