🌿 Welcome to MacKay Highland Farm! 🐓🐝🌻
I wanted to take a minute to introduce ourselves for those who are new and wondering what we have going on over here.
MacKay Highland Farm is our family farm and home, working hand in hand with Plows for Warriors, a veteran rehabilitation farm founded by Ryan and Lanie Eichler.
The name MacKay comes from Lanie's father's Scottish clan, whose roots trace back to the Highlands of Scotland near Elgin. We wanted the farm's name to honor that heritage and the values that come with it—hard work, resilience, family, and a deep connection to the land.
Ryan is a disabled veteran who found a renewed sense of purpose through farming. What started as a way to heal has grown into a mission of creating a place where veterans, families, and our community can learn, connect, and grow together. Lanie works from home, helps keep the farm running, and somehow manages to juggle all the moving pieces that come with chasing a dream.
This page is where we'll share the chaos of transforming an abandoned cattle farm into a thriving homestead, learning center, and farm store. You'll see the victories, the setbacks, the muddy boots, the broken equipment, the overflowing gardens, the bees, the animals, and all the lessons we learn along the way.
Our vision is bigger than just building a farm. We want MacKay Highland Farm to become a place where people can reconnect with the land, learn practical skills, support local agriculture, and experience the healing that farming can bring.
If you're interested in beekeeping, gardening, homesteading, sustainable living, farm projects, or simply enjoy watching dreams come to life one project at a time, you're in the right place.
We'd love to get to know you! Tell us where you're from and what brought you to our page.
Thank you for following along as we build this dream—one fence, one hive, one harvest, and one project at a time.
❤️ Welcome to the farm!!!
