Sasha’s Pals Sasha's Pals focuses on fostering and saving animals in need! I decided to start this page to dedicate to our fosters and the rescues that we work with!

In March 2019, we started fostering and it has become a passion. What I realized with fostering is that I can be that animal's voice. I can write their story and tell potential adopters about the animal's personality. There are some that we have to spend more time getting healthy and socializing. Most act like a completely different animal in a home environment and that's where fostering is key! A

nd while I didn't think I could let the dogs that we foster go, I realized that the best thing is to let them go to wonderful families so that we can help more! The Sasha's Pals name has a history. I had a wonderful friend, Libba, that was like my grandmother. When she went to a retirement home, she was very lonely. I rescued a pup for Libba named Sasha. These two simply adored one another and spent every minute together. Sasha added years to Libba's life. Sasha's Pals is a tribute to their love and bond. Now, let's go save some more lives! Well, we have an adoption story for Poppy. She is officially a Miller. ❤️ I’ll share her story if anyone is interested.

Poppy came to us in May of 2025 from the Greenville shelter. Her puppy had been adopted but she was left in an overcrowded, high-kill shelter. She was semi-feral. She immediately jumped our fence and spent 5 days in our pasture (with food and water). However, she wouldn’t let me get close to her.

On the 5th day, she jumped back over the fence and came into the house and approached me. When I touched her, she was burning up. Poppy knew she was sick and needed help. My vet came out and luckily, it was just an infection that was cleared up with antibiotics.

From then on, Poppy decided I was okay. She liked me, my daughter and my granddaughter but eveyone else, she kept her distance. There’s not a mean bone in her, but she is extra cautious.

As the year progressed, Poppy did better but still not a normal dog that could be adopted. I decided to send her to a trainer to push her out of her comfort zone.

Poppy is a smart girl. While with the trainer, she went on a hunger strike for 10 days. My husband saw the worry in my eyes. He drove the two hours to get her and bring her home. We agreed that Poppy was ours.

She came home and started eating like a champ, loves eveyone in our house, barks at strangers because they are in HER house and she doesn’t leave my side. 😂

Needless to say, the little stinker won. We love her and vice versa. 🥰

🐻❤️ Adopt Duffy ❤️🐻

Oh my goodness! This little 4 month old guy is full of so much love and happiness. He wiggles and smiles to your heart’s content. We named him Duffy because my my kids used to have a stuffed bear named Duffy, and he reminds me so much of him! He was stuck in a rural shelter for several weeks after he was found wondering. He was a volunteer favorite, so they pleaded for his safety and here he is! Duffy is doing well at potty and crate training. He’s a pro at the doggie door and he absolutely loves all people, dogs and cats. He’s never met a stranger. He’s a submissive player and is best buddies with all of the pups of every size! We anticipate that he will be 55 lbs when grown. Come meet sweet Duffy.

🏖️❤️ Adopt Evan ❤️🏖️

Evan is a five month old boy that had a really rough start in life. He was found at a commercial building in South Dallas. It took him awhile to learn to trust people but now he is the first one in line for peanut butter parties. Evan should be about 50 lbs when grown. He’s awesome with dogs, cats and kids and would probably be best in a home with another dog to continue to grow his confidence. Evan is potty and crate trained and an all around good boy. He isn’t a big barker and non-destructive. He’s doing well with leash training too! This little guy has had such a rough start - he deserves the best home!

Lilly Marie’s story is one of heartbreak. She was adopted from us when she was a puppy in 2021. Sadly, domestic violence affected her family and she was returned due to the unfortunate circumstances. She is a dream dog! So calm, sweet, loving. She is potty and crate trained and awesome with dogs, cats and kids. Lilly Marie LOVES her person. She will stay right beside you and is the definition of a dog that truly loves with all of her heart. She would be an awesome support dog as she is extremely loyal. Did I mention how loving she is? I can’t emphasize that enough. She’s so easy - she is a good leash walker and loves riding in the car. This girl is the best and she deserves an awesome home!

Update. Adopted! Poor Woody. His sister, Jessie, was adopted today, and he is wondering where his family is. Woody is a 5 month old lab/pyr mix which is a wonderful mix. He’s chill, sweet, goofy, potty and crate trained. He needs leash work but that will come quickly. Come meet this handsome boy!

I don’t know how we still have these sweeties. They are adorable and each have such unique markings!

We had two returns that are drastically different.

Lorraine was retuned because the other dogs in the home never accepted her. It was very obvious that the adopters tried everything. The adopters said the issue was with the resident dogs. Lorraine came back and was soon adopted by a sweet family with another dog and a little boy. She is in heaven.

The second return was Steve. The return reason was “supposed” allergies after more than a year. The adopter was very combative and elusive. Regardless, Steve came back and even the vet’s office staff was so shocked that the adopter had no emotion when she dropped him off at the their office. When Steve came, he was stopping to p*e every five minutes. Bingo! The reason for the return became blatantly clear. Sadly, if the adopter had just paid attention and taken Steve to the vet, she would have realized that he had a uti. This is easily fixed and he is already all better. Steve is the absolute sweetest dog and to be honest, she didn’t deserve this angel dog. Our goal is to find him a wonderful owner that will love him unconditionally.
