AND Dino loves the 2026 look sooooo 🀣

Dino was held all Winter in anticipation of a wonderful home in PA. When it was time for pick up, the home fell through. It's okay because Dino is living his best life here at SMA πŸ₯°

We are putting more training time on him now that the weather is AHHHmazing and we KNOW his perfect home will find him when the time is rightπŸ™βœ¨οΈ

This weekend we said farewell to the barn supervisor. He was the official, unofficial SMA welcome wagon. He was our favorite "stinky Shae" ....the dog who couldn't go past the pond, without going THROUGH the pond. He never seemed to care much about my opinions, but he was always here and always the most dedicated of pals.

Thank you for raising more pups than you ever wanted. Thank you for welcoming every friend and guest. Thank you for being such an incredible part of our family. You are fiercely missed, and loved more than you could have ever known ❀️

Fly high and run the whole length of Heaven. Tell Fi I miss her every day. Give Mi my love.

Rest easy buddy. You have been everything we could have ever asked.... and so much more πŸ™

Can I tell you about the bravest little girl I've ever known?

When we had to downsize and find new homes for our herd... I told my little best friend they couldn’t all stay. She loved her unicorn. She had lost her pony a few years back and I hated asking her to say goodbye again. I also knew her unicorn would need many years before she could ride him as a little person.

So I offered to give her my best mare, proven and totally in love with my little girl πŸ’•

I told Lil the choice was hers. She chose to keep Rowan and let her unicorn find his own person.

What a journey this has been. The day after Lil made her decision, we walked to the barn together after school. My brave little girl, wise beyond words told me she knew she had made the right choice πŸ¦„

I'm so grateful for the beautiful souls here πŸ’–

Ahhh Equine Affaire, Columbus OH ✨️

You have been soooooo good to our mustangs. The last 3 years were full of phenomenal opportunities to share mustangs with the horse community. How enthusiastically our friends showed up, glowing with love and pride for the once wild horse at the end of their lead line.

The best part is that you don't need me this year. The mustang community has grown in so many beautiful ways in recent years. When we were asked to bring mustangs out East... I was told the Eastern States was a barren land. Most horse people I met in Ohio had never met a mustang.

In 2018, we were blessed with the opportunity to bring our first adoptable mustangs to Ohio.

And. It. GREW.
Our mustangs came. First in small groups. Then in bigger groups. As our mustangs found homes, adopters fell hopelessly in love with America's very own living legends. How grateful we are to have taken part in sharing mustangs with our Eastern States horse community.

How grateful we are that so many wonderful people fell in love with the best horses we have ever known.

Today I stayed home with my beautiful mustangs. Today they ran and played in our pastures without a care in the world. Today we weren't needed because so many beautiful humans and their mustangs continue to carry on our favorite mission.... advocating and sharing our mustangs with the world around us. Today we feel so much gratitude for our mustang community.

May God Bless the Mustang, and the blessed humans who fiercely love them πŸ’•

If someone were to ask what our mustang community means to me.... it's everything ✨️

When I brought home my first little mustang, I never could have dreamed of what this endeavor would bring. Not only did I find the horses that stir my soul, I found a community that has changed my life in every way imaginable.

A 1000 lifetimes still wouldn't be enough to express my love and gratitude for the tribe I've found in our mustang community. I've found friends who have become family. I've met people who love with with unmatched grit and dedication. I've laughed enough to fill every void under the sun. I've found humans who will walk alongside for the best and worst days on earth.

There's something different about those of us drawn to these living legends. The best kind of different I could ever imagine ✨️

May God Bless the Mustang πŸ’– οΈπŸ™

When I imagine a day that embodies promise ✨️
...I see a day like today. I hear the sweet serenade of tiny peeper frogs as they sing about brighter days ahead πŸ’š

Life is so many things, but perfect likely isn't one of them. If we are really honest, life is often quite messy. My grace to get through the messy days has been to look for the beauty, listen for the melody, and believe in the the promise πŸ™

May God Bless the Mustang πŸ’•

He had learned how to comply
...he was a shell of a horse, but there were moments I could see a flicker in his eye. A flicker that told me he longed for connection. A flicker that told me of his resilience and ability to forgive. So when I was given the opportunity to make him mine, the answer had always been yes.

I got a call from a dear friend concerned about her horse. She had sent him to a trainer she thought was trustworthy. Months of vague updates and no pictures turned into concern. Concern turned into a plan to drive across the country and retrieve her horse. Then came the excuses, then came the backpeddling, then an admission he no longer resembled the horse my friend had last seen.

My friend called in a panic, "I need your help."
He arrived the next day. He was compliant. He unloaded off the trailer and lead to his quarantine pen. Dino was a shell of the horse he could and should have been.

As promised, I called my friend to share what I saw. He was supposed to be a show horse with great promise. I told her the goals for him were not attainable for a horse in his condition. I told her he needed to have one job... he needed to eat while using that time to decompress and heal both his body and mind.

When I was offered to become his person, even as a stepping stone along his path, I always knew the answer would be yes. My focus was to give him room to experience true safety. I wanted him to learn that my only agenda was to help him heal. Day after day... he was only asked to eat and play. Day by day... he healed in body and mind.

The healing has been nothing short of miraculous. As his body changed in form, that brief flicker I saw has turned into an unmistakable and constant sparkle.... and here is where the magic happens.

He doesn't comply anymore, instead he is engaged as an active participant in his own training journey. Instead of fearful, he is curious. Instead of shutdown, he is willing. Instead of timid, he is brave. I couldn't possibly be more proud of this little mustang. I understand that we, as humans, don't deserve his forgiveness. I understand he has every reason to write off domestic life, but here he is with so much try.

He reminds me of my own journey. After the past few years, I often don't recognize the person in the mirror. This being is so broken physically and mentally... a mere shell of the person I used to know. Sometimes I see glimmers of something familiar, a person I used to know. Not unlike a little mustang who refused to give up. A mustang who somehow knew there was promise ahead.

I pray for this beautiful mustang. I pray for my own journey. I pray to be forgiving like him. I pray to heal like him.... body and mind.

While I seek to be his teacher, in reality, he has been mine ✨️

May God Bless the Mustang
God bless you sweet Dino πŸ™
