The lesson with Chloe is that some friendships aren’t lifelong…you can have a friendship for just 1 week.

Chloe was 14, her original owner had unfortunately passed, so she had been living with her current owner for a few years.

Chloe was a senior dog who had Cushing’s Disease…and I was asked to help her out during the day. She was such a sweetheart, and I immediately became attached.

I figured that we had 6months…maybe a year to spend time together. Her disease was just too far progressed, so 1 week after we started hanging, 2 days after being notified of Kronk’s passing, I was informed that Chloe had also passed.

Tho’ our friendship was brief, it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t special…and that’s what I’ll take from this loss of a sweet senior girl.

You were tired Chloe, I knew that you were telling me that, and I understand.

Uncle Greg instantly loved you and is gonna miss you. ❤️

When I met Kronk, I became a 43 year old kid, who went home and called his mother to tell her about him. A Dane mix…big, friendly, gentle, but not afraid to tell a weirdo to back off.

We clicked immediately. I always felt safe with him no matter where we were…and I hope that I eased his mind when we were together. Kronk needed a dog handler that could read his body language and not leave him hangin’ to make tough decisions…and I was the one.

He meshed well with all of the other dogs…I also felt that he gave the shy ones in the group an extra sense of security, with his big boy presence.

Back in October, Kronk needed a new home…which is a tough thing to do. The dog that I always wanted was available… and it was impossible for me to adopt him. He had a whole community looking out for a new home, but to no avail. At the end of January, he went into the shelter system with the MSPCA, where they recently found him a foster.

Unfortunately, some of life’s stories aren’t destined for a fairytale ending…and last week, I was notified that Kronk had passed.

We lost a lot of dog friends last year. I hope that they were all there waiting for you…I also pray that you found the mindful peace, that I couldn’t give to you.

I’m completely crushed. 💔

My Big Baby Boy Kronk…
Uncle G’ loves you so much. 💔

This past Monday, first official dog biz day of 2026, and my first stop was to say goodbye to my Lil’ Guy.

Lego was part of the Mocha-Lego Dachshund duo. The 3 of us would hangout mini dog style, come in for some treats, and clown around for a minute.

Lego started to lose his sight/most of his hearing, but he adjusted and went with the flow. He would always get up and come on over when he’d hear Mocha greet me at the door.

Something about a small senior dog that makes the bond/relationship special on its own level. Idk if it’s a protective thing or the desire to make their remaining years as easy as possible.

Lego turned 16 in December and was showing “quality of life” issues. Over the holiday, it was confirmed that a brain tumor was starting to develop.

As a kid, the words of our family vet and my father, have always stuck with me:

“When they’re only living for you, and not living for themselves anymore, it’s time.”

I got there right before Lego headed out on his last ride. I was able to see him, but he wasn’t feelin’ good. Mocha was with him as he passed, and dogs know. 💔

On Tuesday, it was just us 2 on our walk, and it was more than sad. 😔

Oh my lil’ guy Lego…Uncle G loves you. Your memories will stay alive for as long as I live. ❤️
