I’m thrilled that Idealia has earned her AKC Trick Dog Performer title.

When I close my eyes and think about everything we have accomplished together in less than two years, it’s hard to believe. I adopted her at seven years old, and what we’ve achieved since then sometimes feels surreal.

From therapy visits and reading programs to tricks, fitness, cognitive games, and now AKC Performer, she continues to amaze me every day.

Here’s to you, Idealia. May you always keep your tail wagging high and your love of learning shining bright. ❤️🐩

Canine fitness with Idealia! 🐩

In this exercise, Idealia has her front feet on the balance donut and her rear feet on a balance disc. Because dogs naturally carry more of their weight on their front end, this setup increases activation of the shoulders, chest, triceps, core, and front-end stabilizing muscles while still engaging the hips and hind legs.

When the setup is reversed (rear feet on the donut and front feet on the disc), there is greater emphasis on the gluteal muscles, hamstrings, quadriceps, hip stabilizers, and rear-end proprioception.

By alternating between the two positions, Idealia receives a more complete full-body workout, improving strength, balance, coordination, body awareness, and overall athletic conditioning.
