SCAR South Monterey County Animal Rescue established for the rescue and fostering of domestic animals. South County Animal Rescue (SCAR) was founded in January 2016.

of a foster based system. We are now an official 501c3 non-profit organization Tax ID #: 81-2344689. Our Mission:
South County Animal Rescue was established to provide rescue and assistance for domestic animals. Our goal is to significantly reduce the homeless population of domestic animals in South County through safe rescue and adoption services, awareness and education. We strive to establish relationships with other rescue agencies and collaborate to save more lives.

Happy National Dog Day!!
Honestly, every day is a dog day at SCAR 🐾

Rescue work isn't for the faint of heart. The dogs who have come into our care over the years with a history of abandonment, abuse, or neglect have broken our hearts one too many times. Yet the healing and transformation they experience at SCAR is inspiring and keeps us motivated.

Today, we celebrate all dogs. The loyalty, the unconditional love, and the protection dogs give humans. We honor the bond between dog and human that makes dogs more than a companion. They are family.

In recognizing National Dog Day, we encourage you to support your local shelter or your favorite animal rescue. Help in the ways that you can.

Hug your dog today.
