SCAR South Monterey County Animal Rescue established for the rescue and fostering of domestic animals. South County Animal Rescue (SCAR) was founded in January 2016.

We are a volunteer-run organization of animal lovers, operating off of a foster based system. We are now an official 501c3 non-profit organization Tax ID #: 81-2344689. Our Mission:
South County Animal Rescue was established to provide rescue and assistance for domestic animals. Our goal is to significantly reduce the homeless population of domestic animals in South County through safe rescue and adoption services, awareness and education. We strive to establish relationships with other rescue agencies and collaborate to save more lives.

This is Jack. 🐾

Jack is about 8 months old and such a sweetheart! He was a stray kitten taken in, and the family held him as long as they could. Inevitably, due to no fault of hos own, their 2 household cats did not agree to Jack staying. They reached out to us for help with finding Jack a new home.

Jack is super affectionate and will gladly jump on your lap or rest on your chest for a chance to get some kisses on your chin or cheek. He is ok with other cats with a slow introduction. He still has kitten energy and may play a little rough with young children or kittens. He would do great with supervision in just about any household.

Jack is neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines. Intro to dogs pending 🤞🏼

This is Mr. Mickey Thompson! 🐾

This sweet boy came into the shelter as a stray with severe skin issues. Mickey is truly a magical pup!

A very easygoing guy, Mickey LOVES everyone he meets, 2-legged and 4-legged alike! He is the perfect passenger on car rides, even when you take the wrong exit! Haha, inside joke, only Mickey would laugh about.

Mickey really enjoys relaxing next to his person. He is a fairly quiet boy who would love to join you on strolls through the neighborhood.

He is still brushing up on his house training skills and making good progress. It appears Mickey lived an outdoor life for some time. His skin issues have completely healed, and he’s ready to start a new chapter.

Mickey is currently at Monterey County Juvenile Hall, where young people practice their dog training skills and daily care with Mickey!

P.s. We are proud to partner with to give Mr. Mickey and Youth, a second chance. ❤️
