There is NOTHING natural about keeping fish in a glass box. What goes in must come out in a small volume of water, such as an aquarium.You do not have a natural tank, you have a planted tank. Be mindful of the terminology .

Zoos and aquaria are already saving freshwater species. Together, we can scale it.

Zoos and aquaria do incredible work for freshwater fish conservation. Their most impactful programmes are often the ones that prioritise collaboration with other institutions: think the Tequila Splitfin and Golden Skiffia reintroductions, or the work that has been achieved for Mexican Pupfish.

Collaboration works: it increases visibility and funding leverage, it streamlines the sharing of information, knowledge and resources, and it generates shared momentum. Collaboration heightens effectiveness: we just need more of it.

This is why we have launched the SHOAL Alliance of Zoos and Aquaria alongside 11 founding members. We're hugely excited by this collaboration, and by what we can achieve together.

Hello friends, here is a great species for aquarists with little to no experience with goodeids, Chapalichthy pardalis. They don’t look like much, but when the males come into breeding condition , they exhibit silver spangling and a yellow tipped tail. Very similar to Ameca splendens , the Butterfly Goodeid, only bigger!
