Isle of Wight County Humane Society

Isle of Wight County Humane Society The IOWCHS is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501c3, home-based foster organization.

The Isle of Wight County Humane Society is an all-volunteer organization that promotes responsible pet care and the humane treatment of animals in our local community. We started 40 years ago, in 1980 with a small group of four individuals who shared a passion for helping animals. The small group of individuals recognized the need for a rescue group to assist both the Isle of Wight County Animal S

helter and citizens within the community with their pets. In 1999, our organization became an all-volunteer, non-profit, 501c3, home-based foster organization. As our organization grew and gained funds through pet adoptions and fundraising, we were able to start a medical grant program that assists individuals within the community who cannot afford veterinary care for their pets. We were also able to start a spay/neuter program to help control over-population.

FOSTER FAMILY NEEDED
This female kitten was found on the side of the road. She is approximately 8-10 weeks old. She has had a bath and is feeling so much better. She is eating, drinking and using the litter box. Plus, she is friendly!
The finder is unable to foster the kitten due to an upcoming move. A foster home must be found this week.
Isle of Wight County Humane Society provides vet care and will handle the adoption. Fosters provide a safe temporary home. If you can help, please text our volunteer at (757) 218-6773.

Cute little “Ghost”, 6 year old, neutered male, mini Aussie, is looking for a family. He will be at PetSmart today, Aug 30, from 11:00-2:00 hoping to meet them.
Ghost is nervous with strangers. After he gets to you, he is super affectionate and very playful. He loves to play fetch and tug games. He is housebroken and crate trained. Ghost is ok with other pets but is too shy for young children.

FOSTER FAMILIES NEEDED!

Two friendly adult male cats, apparently left behind by their owners to fend for themselves, need foster homes so we can get them neutered, vetted, and on their way to furever homes. They are OK with cat friendly dogs. Little Man is a talker and Big Boy is the strong, silent type. The boys can be split up into two foster homes if necessary.

If you have a spare bedroom or bathroom available, you can foster. We recommend keeping all foster animals separate from other animals in the home for a period of 10 days so any health issues can be assessed. The Humane Society provides all vet care and will take care of the adoptions.

If you can help, or if you need more information on fostering, please text our volunteer at (757) 218-6773.

***UPDATE: Sarah and Hubble were adopted!!

Sarah & Hubble, approximately 15 weeks old, are looking for their furever family (or even a foster family for the near term). They are altered, have had their rabies vaccinations, flea treatment, and have been dewormed... and tested negative for Felv/fiv.

They are from a feral colony but aren't feral - Hubble is considered special needs as it seems he is a CH kitty, but it's very mild, as you can see in the video. CH, Cerebellar Hypoplasia, is a condition that affects balance and coordination. It is commonly called Wobbly Cat Syndrome. It is not contagious.

For more information about Sarah and Hubble please call/text our volunteer (757) 218-6773

HELP!! FOSTER FAMILIES DESPERATELY NEEDED for the litter of 7 kittens. We thought we had a foster lined up, but it backfired and a new arrangement must be made by Sunday evening!! Many people are asking about adopting…how about fostering?? We will split up the litter if necessary. Please, if you can help or need more information, call or text the number below and our volunteer will help you.

FOSTER FAMILIES needed for two separate litters of kittens.

Litter #1: 7 kittens born the 4th of July. The Humane Society provides necessary vet care and will take care of all adoptions. The foster family provides a safe and loving temporary home until the kittens are old enough in age and temperament to be adopted. We can split the litter between two foster families

Litter #2: Four kittens, approximately 12 weeks of age. Mostly black. An experienced foster needed for this group of kittens that are a bit on the spicy side!

If you have questions or would like to help these precious souls on their journey to their forever homes, please call or text our volunteer at (757) 218-6773.
