FOSTER NEEDED FOR HEARTWORM TREATMENT - Meet Siouxsie Sioux 🐾

This sweet girl is Siouxsie Sioux - a 4-year-old German Shepherd mix who was found as a stray and is finally safe.

She is heartworm positive and will need treatment to get healthy again. What she needs most right now is a quiet foster home where she can decompress, relax, and heal.

Siouxsie is gentle, affectionate, and just wants to feel secure. She’s been through a lot on her own and is ready for a couch, a kind voice, and time to rest.

What fostering for heartworm treatment looks like:
• A calm, indoor home - no marathon runs or rough play, just short leashed potty walks and lots of rest
• A cozy spot to decompress away from the chaos of the shelter
• Help getting her to shelter appointments for treatment- we cover costs
• Love and patience while she heals - treatment is typically a few months

Heartworm is NOT contagious to other pets or people, just requires rest to recover safely.

We provide food, crate, medical care, and support. You provide the safe space.

We’re excited to share that Animal Assistance League of Slidell is one of the local charities benefiting from the JOY Charity Benefit! ❤️🐾

Join us Saturday, September 12th from 10:00 AM–2:30 PM at Lamb of God Lutheran Church, Slidell, 57210 Allen Road in Slidell for a wonderful day of food, fun, shopping, and giving back to our community!

Enjoy a JOYful High Tea, entertainment, baked goods, plants, beautiful quilts, jewelry, raffles, door prizes, and a silent auction! Admission is just $5.00, with proceeds benefiting CCC, STARC, and Animal Assistance League of Slidell.

🐾 Every event that supports AALS helps us continue doing what we love most—helping the animals of the Slidell Animal Shelter.

Come spend the day with us, support some wonderful local organizations, and maybe even take home a raffle or auction treasure! ❤️

Meet Anthony Kiedis. 💛

This sweet 4-year-old shepherd mix came to us as a stray, and he's trying so hard to be brave. Right now the shelter is just a little too loud, a little too strange, with too many new smells and sounds for his tender heart.

Anthony is heartworm positive, but he has already started his treatment like a champ. What he needs most now to finish healing is not a kennel, but a quiet corner of a loving home where he can finally feel safe, secure, and truly seen.

He doesn't need perfect, he just needs peaceful. A soft bed, a kind voice, and someone to let him go at his own pace.

Could you be his safe place? We will provide everything you need — you just provide the love.
