Yesterday I was able to finally get a crack at an old doe I called Grandma that I’ve kind of been after on our property for 3 years. Now I know a doe is not usually something to brag about but this ol gal may have been the oldest living doe in West Feliciana. 😂 I’ve been getting pics of her for 3 years knowing she was always without fawns and that she was really old. Then she paired up this year with a younger doe I called Radar Karen because she walked around like a paranoid crackhead alarming everything in the woods, all day. Grandma made the mistake yesterday evening of slipping away from Karen and we finally crossed paths.
As a taxidermist I see a lot of jaw bones for the purpose of aging a deer ( or attempting to). I can honestly say I have never seen teeth like these, or whats left of them.
The jaw bone on right is from a buck that was known to be 5 1/2 years old . I’m guessing that Grandma was past 10 years old. And for those that don’t know, that’s really old for a wild free range whitetail.
For reference , thats my size 10.5 boot next to her .
Weighed 168 #. Which is huge for the area.
