One day, it’s a perfectly respectable front yard.

The next? There’s a 12 foot skeleton on the porch, a giant spider in the bushes, and a ghost inflating itself in the wind.

Your dog has questions. Fair enough. 😂

As Halloween decorations pop up, there’s a difference between curiosity and feeling overwhelmed.
🐾 The Curious Investigator: Takes a look, maybe gives it a sniff, and carries on.
🐾 The Neighborhood Alarm System: Stiffens, barks repeatedly, or has trouble moving on from the alleged threat.

If your dog seems unsettled, give them some space, keep a comfortable distance, and reward calm behavior when they’re ready.

No need to investigate every suspicious inflatable on the block. Some cases can remain open.

Millie is taking full advantage of her time outdoors.

There are sights to take in, smells to investigate, and absolutely no reason to rush through any of it.

And speaking of getting outside… Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation is hard at work, and you know what that can only mean… 🎄✨ Christmas at the Falls is coming!

Because the best Pet Pals Adventure (that Millie was on) and walks aren’t always about how far you go. Sometimes, they’re about having the time to explore, enjoy the fresh air, and just be a dog.

You don’t need a fancy puzzle toy, an elaborate activity, or an entire afternoon free to give your dog something interesting to do.

Just ask Pet Pal Lucy! She’s enjoying her frozen goat’s milk with freeze dried food enrichment activity and a peanut butter LickiMat waiting. 😋

Standing tall above the Missouri River near Chamberlain, South Dakota, is Dignity: Of Earth & Sky. With her outstretched arms holding a star quilt, this remarkable statue honors the strength, resilience, and enduring spirit of Native American women and the rich cultures of the Great Plains.

Her name, Dignity, reminds us of something close to our hearts at Pet Pals: the importance of treating others with kindness, compassion, and respect.

At Pet Pals, we see the power of connection every day in the trust between pets and their people, the gentle care of a dedicated dog walker and pet sitter, and the relationships we build with the families who welcome us into their homes.

Today, we pause to honor Indigenous peoples, recognize the importance of their histories and traditions, and appreciate the reminder that respect begins with how we treat one another.

May we continue to lead with compassion, listen with open hearts, and show kindness in the little things we do every day.
