It takes a village 🏘️🏘️
That was evident recently when Dr. Blair Cornman of Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain received a phone call from French Bulldog Rescue of Georgia (F.R.O.G.S) whom she works closely with in Georgia. You see, Dr. Cornman loves Frenchies and one in need always makes her take notice.
Enter “Mama” a three year old Frenchie that had been in labor for an unknown amount of time. The owner was hoping to surrender Mama to the rescue due to the inability to afford the care she needed. Her location presented an issue for Dr. Cornman because she was almost three hours away. Because she had been struggling for a prolonged time period, both the rescue and Dr. Cornman were concerned she would not make the trip to Signal Mountain, TN safely.
Dr. Cornman reached out to her associate MRO, Leslie Spacil, about NVA locations in the Atlanta area. Alpharetta Veterinary Specialty and Emergency, and ETHOS hospital, was located and the race to get Mama help began. Bryanna Messex, a CSR at AVSE, was an instrumental liaison between Dr. Cornman and the rescue working hard to ensure that Mama would be met with a team ready to assist her. She most certainly was. Dr. Emily Montes, Cassidy Morris LVT, and Sadie Mills VA awaited her arrival and jumped in to action when she arrived.
A C-section was performed and although the puppy was not viable, Mama came through the surgical procedure with flying colors. The next morning her Frenchie vocals rang throughout the clinic and she was begging for pats and treats from the whole team. She was discharged the next evening.
This story illustrates the bond between NVA general practice and ETHOS emergency hospitals. Because of this close tie, a patient was successfully treated in a timely manner.
Mama will soon be available for adoption through French Bulldog Rescue of Georgia S.E. (FROGS). This rescue tirelessly works to help frenchies in need on a daily basis. 🤎🐶
