Scooter stopped by to visit us from the Humane Society of Harrison County - WV today! 🖤

It’s hard to believe that in February 2025, Scooter was surrendered to us by his owner simply because he was no longer wanted. As of today, Scooter has spent 484 days living in a kennel.

Not because he’s a bad dog.

Scooter is a good dog who has been misunderstood. He’s a ladies' man, a protector, loves other dogs, and has a goofy personality that will keep you smiling. He just needs the right person to see him for who he is.

For 484 days, Scooter has waited for a family of his own. During that time, the Humane Society has shared him week after week, hoping someone would give him a chance. Yet he continues to wait. ⌛️

The longer Scooter occupies that kennel, the longer another dog at animal control waits for a chance to be rescued and helped. Opening Scooter’s kennel door means opening a space for another life to be saved.

There has to be someone out there for him.

Please help us share Scooter's story. Let’s find the family he has been waiting 484 days for. We know our friends at the Humane Society would cry tears of joy if this boy got his forever home 🏠

Meet Simon! 🐾

Simon is a 1-year-old Collie mix who is neutered, microchipped, and ready to find his forever home.

In his short year of life, Simon has already experienced more change than any dog should. He started out at the Kanawha Charleston Humane Association, was adopted, then rehomed, and eventually found his way to us. Now, we’re hoping the next stop will be his last.

Simon is house-trained and has done well with other animals and children. He loves attention, playtime, and being part of the action. He’s a smart, active boy who would thrive with a family that enjoys spending time outdoors, playing, and making him part of their daily life.

A fair warning: Simon is a bit of a Houdini! He has been known to jump, climb, and dig his way out of a 4-foot fence, so he’ll need a family that can provide secure containment and keep an eye on his adventures.

What Simon needs most is stability. No more bouncing from home to home. No more starting over. He’s looking for a family that is committed to him for life and ready to give him the love, patience, and companionship he deserves.

Could Simon’s forever home be with you? ❤️🐾🏡

This morning, we received a call from headquarters regarding a Great Dane that had been struck by a vehicle near the Lumberport Cut-Off/Route 19.

When our officers arrived, it was evident that he had sustained severe injuries. He was unable to stand and was experiencing significant pain and distress. After assessing his condition, the difficult but humane decision was made to provide him with a peaceful passing and spare him any further suffering.

We are asking for your help in sharing this post so we can hopefully reunite this handsome boy with his family. Every pet deserves to be laid to rest by the people who loved them.

If you recognize this dog or have any information that may help identify his owners, please contact Harrison County Animal Control.

Please share.

💔 Rest easy, big guy. Hopefully this reaches the people who are missing him.

We just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported our 1st Annual Trails & Tails event! 🐾❤️

What an incredible day filled with wagging tails, smiling faces, community spirit, and support for the animals we all care so much about.

A huge thank you to:
🐶 Our amazing volunteers who donated their time and energy
🐶 Our wonderful vendors who helped make the event so special
🐶 Clarksburg Veterinary Hospital for being there to aid any pet that may have had a medical emergency (we didn’t have one! ☺️)
🐶 The staff of Parks & Recreation for their partnership and support
🐶 And everyone who attended, participated, donated, shopped, ran, visited, and cheered us on

Seeing so many people come together for animals made this event a huge success, and we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you.

We are already looking forward to making next year’s Trails & Tails even bigger and better. Thank you for helping us create such a memorable first event! 🐕🎉🐾
