Sunday Shelter Showcase

🐾 Meet Dewey 🐶

Dewey is ready to turn the page on his past and start the next chapter of his life with a family to call his own. ❤️

Dewey came to us after being found abandoned at a local golf course alongside two other hounds. After spending over a week in foster care while every effort was made to locate an owner, Dewey made his way to our shelter where he’s now patiently waiting for the loving forever home he deserves.
Born around 12/21/2022, Dewey is a handsome hound with lots of personality and a nose that never quits! Like most hounds, he loves to explore, sniff, and investigate every little thing around him. He can be vocal at times—true to his breed—but underneath that classic hound bark is an incredibly sweet and affectionate boy who enjoys attention, companionship, and being close to his people.
Dewey is looking for a patient and understanding home that appreciates hound breeds and all of their lovable quirks. He’s still working on his manners and will thrive with continued training, structure, and positive reinforcement.

Dewey would do best in a home with:
🏡 Plenty of room to roam and explore
🐾 A securely fenced yard for safe outdoor adventures
❤️ A family committed to continuing his training and helping him succeed
🐶 Preferably no other dogs at this time
🐱 No cats or small children
💙 Dewey is:
✔️ Neutered
✔️ Fully vetted
✔️ Ready for adoption now!

If you think Dewey could be the perfect fit for your family, please apply online today at https://www.eastshoreha.org.

We want to share an important update regarding Pam’s Pawsitive Training.

First, we want to sincerely thank everyone for the patience, kindness, prayers, and support you’ve shown our team and Pam’s family over the past few weeks. Your understanding has meant more than words can express as we work through schedule changes and continue supporting our clients and their dogs.

Pam has recently been diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), a rare and serious neurological disease. She will be traveling to Mayo Clinic for confirmation, additional evaluation, and possible clinical trial opportunities.

While Pam may be stepping back from some direct training responsibilities during this time, she is still helping behind the scenes and supporting the other trainers to ensure clients and their dogs continue receiving the care, guidance, and dedication that Pam’s Pawsitive Training has always stood for.

We deeply appreciate everyone’s continued patience as our team adjusts and works through next steps together.

For those who would like to follow updates on Pam’s journey, we will be sharing a link to her CaringBridge page in the comments.

Thank you again for the continued love and support for Pam, her family, and all of us at Pam’s Pawsitive Training. ❤️🐾

☀️🐾 As the weather starts warming up, here are a few important reminders to help keep your pups safe this summer!

• Walk Early or Late
Try to stick to morning or evening walks when temperatures are cooler and safer for your dog.

• Keep Water Handy
Always bring water for both you and your pup. Hydration is so important during warm weather.

• Check the Pavement
Hot pavement can burn sensitive paws. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for them! Choose grassy or shaded areas when possible.

• Watch for Overheating
Heavy panting, excessive drooling, slowing down, weakness, or bright red gums can all be signs your pup is getting too hot. Take breaks and find shade often.

• Protect Their Paws
Booties or paw wax can help protect feet from hot sidewalks and pavement.

• Never Leave Dogs in the Car
Even with windows cracked, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise dangerously fast within minutes.

🐾 Special Reminder for Flat-Faced Breeds
Breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, Boxers, and Shih Tzus are especially sensitive to heat because of their shorter snouts. Keep outdoor time shorter and always monitor them closely.

Summer adventures are more fun when everyone stays safe, cool, and happy.
Share these reminders to help keep pups protected all season long!

Training on walks is a great way to reinforce commands while working through real-life distractions 🐾

Guiding pups through new obstacles and environments helps build confidence, trust, and a stronger bond with their humans. It’s not about forcing them into situations — it’s about introducing new experiences in a positive and encouraging way so they can learn at their own pace.

Just like Sheroo and Tallulah working on sit and stays in new places, even something as simple as sitting on a rock can help build confidence, focus, and teamwork along the way!

Meet Patty & Tilly – Bonded Sisters Looking for a Forever Home!

Patty and Tilly are two sweet, spunky chihuahuas who found themselves in a heartbreaking situation. Rescued from a large-scale dog hoarding case here in Wisconsin, these loving sisters are now ready to begin their next chapter surrounded by comfort, kindness, and family.

Both girls are spayed, fully vetted, and have received extensive dental care due to neglect in their past. Because of this, they’ll need to stay on a soft-food diet for life, but that certainly doesn’t slow them down! Patty and Tilly also take daily seizure medication, which they do very well with.
Still learning what it means to be carefree, happy pets, they thrive in calm and gentle environments. Their perfect home will check a few key boxes:
✔ A quiet, low-stress household
✔ No young children (older teens or adults preferred)
✔ Small-breed dog friends only – big dogs can overwhelm them
✔ A securely fenced yard for safe outdoor time
✔ A family that’s home often – these girls LOVE attention, being held, and curling up on laps
Patty and Tilly are deeply bonded and rely on each other for comfort, confidence, and stability. They must stay together and would blossom in a home where they can receive plenty of affection, patience, and undivided love.

If you’re ready to give this deserving pair the second chance they’ve been waiting so long for, please visit eastshoreha.org to submit an adoption application.
Once approved, our staff will contact you to schedule a meet-and-greet. Please note: Patty and Tilly are in foster care and are not available for walk-in visits at the shelter.
We can’t wait to see these incredible little survivors find the soft place to land they’ve been dreaming of! 💕
