🐾 Trainer Tip Thursday 🐾

One of the most powerful training tools is simply learning to capture good behavior as it happens.

Watch closely for the behaviors you like and reinforce them in the moment:
• A quiet pause instead of barking
• Choosing to settle on their own
• Gentle greetings instead of jumping
• Checking in with you during distractions

When you consistently mark and reward these small choices, your dog starts offering them more often on their own.

What gets reinforced gets repeated.

☀️🐾 Summer is the perfect time to take training on the road! 🐾☀️

We took the pups outside to work on their training. Training in different environments helps solidify your pup’s commands and teaches them to listen even when distractions are present.

New sights, new smells, different surfaces, people, and other distractions all help your dog learn that commands mean the same thing no matter where they are. The more places you practice, the more reliable those behaviors become.

So get outside and enjoy the sunshine with your pup! Whether it’s your backyard, a park, a walking trail, or a downtown stroll, every new environment is an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen your bond, and reinforce training.

🌞 Summer is here—let’s get those pups outside and learning!

💕✨ Still Looking for Her Happily Ever After! ✨💕

Meet Cashmere! ♥️

Cashmere is approximately 4–5 years old and has never met a stranger—she loves every person she meets! She is crate trained and ready to find a family of her own.

Cashmere could happily live with other dogs when given proper introductions and would likely do well with cats if her new family is willing to put in a little time and training. She’s currently living with a cat and doing well! 🙂

This sweet girl has so much love to give and is patiently waiting for the right family to find her.

🤠🐾 We had some line dancing fun in class this week!

With tight turns, changing directions, and navigating around other dogs and people, our pups had plenty of opportunities to practice focus and engagement with their owners. The goal wasn’t just learning the dance moves—it was helping our dogs stay connected to us, disengage from distractions, and work as a team.

From weaving through the crowd to staying focused during those boot-scootin’ turns, everyone did an excellent job! We are so proud of the progress these teams are making and the relationships they’re building along the way.

🎶 Boot scootin’ boogie, pups and people alike!

🐾 Progress is worth celebrating! 🐾

Chase’s journey is a wonderful reminder that patience, consistency, and teamwork can create amazing changes.

Not long ago, if the neighbors were outside, Chase would race up and down the fence line barking, completely focused on them.

Now, thanks to the hard work and dedication of his owner, Chase is learning a different response. Recently, when the neighbors came outside, he barked just twice before settling down and choosing to simply watch. In fact, he was so relaxed that he laid down across the yard and calmly observed them from a distance.

His owner has worked hard to build positive associations and teach him alternative behaviors. When she uses his “friend” cue, Chase now looks to her for guidance and is much easier to redirect. If she stops to chat with the neighbors, he’ll often come sit by her or simply lay down and relax.

We’re so proud of Chase and his family for putting in the work and celebrating every step forward.
