WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR SOMEONE TO COME MEET BUDDY??? 💔

Buddy has been at the shelter for ONE MONTH. A MONTH TOO LONG.

And now he is our LONGEST RESIDENT. 💔

That matters because when a shelter with only 10 kennels fills up, the dogs who have been waiting the longest are the ones I start worrying about.

Buddy is now at risk.

You hear us say it all the time: “How does a dog this good end up sitting in a shelter?” Well, Buddy is THAT dog.

Every single day he sits behind that kennel door waiting for his turn to come out. Waiting for me or one of the volunteers to grab his leash so he can have even 30 minutes outside of that kennel.

And when he gets out? He’s just happy to be with us. 🥺💙

Last week I let Buddy play in the parking lot at the shelter. He had the opportunity to wander around, but he stayed right there with me and the volunteers. He wanted to be close to his people.

Buddy is about 2 years old and a Great Pyrenees/Husky mix. He is calm, affectionate and easygoing. He loves snuggles, enjoys playing a little fetch, is treat-motivated and takes treats gently. He’ll bark to alert you when something is going on, but this big guy really just wants companionship and someone to call his own.

He has done great with female dogs. If you have another dog, a meet and greet is required. Cats are still an unknown, and respectful children who know how to treat a dog are suggested.

And look at the picture of us. ❤️ THAT is Buddy. Happy. Smiling. Loving the attention. Just wanting to be beside someone.

But here’s what scares me…

We have ONE empty kennel out of 10. ONE.

When that kennel fills, am I going to have to make a post screaming:

🚨 BUDDY IS URGENT!!! 🚨

Is THAT what it’s going to take before someone comes to meet him?

Why does his life have to be on the line before people notice him???

I’m frustrated.
I’m worried.
I’m scared.

Buddy has already spent ONE MONTH watching people come and go.

One month sleeping in a kennel.
One month waiting.
One month too long.

And because he’s now our longest resident, I don’t want to find out what happens if we need his kennel.

Please don’t wait for the next post to say we are out of time.

COME MEET BUDDY NOW. 💙

Give him 30 minutes. Sit with him. Throw a ball. Let him lean into you. Give this boy the chance to show you why all of us who spend time with him can’t understand why he’s still here.

PLEASE SHARE BUDDY!!! 🙏💙🐾

He needs you BEFORE “AVAILABLE” BECOMES “URGENT.”

🚨🚨 SCRAPPY IS AT RISK — RESCUE NEEDED!!! 🚨🚨

Everyone remembers Scrappy. 💙 He’s the puppy who stole so many hearts when he was diagnosed with Megaesophagus (MegaE) and learned how to eat sitting upright in his special highchair.

Scrappy WAS adopted. His adopters did not have experience with MegaE, but they were willing to learn. Unfortunately, the daily care and commitment his condition requires became more than they could manage, and Scrappy was returned to the shelter.

And now I need everyone to understand something very important…

‼️ SCRAPPY IS AT RISK. ‼️

Read that again.

🚨 SCRAPPY. IS. AT. RISK. 🚨

At this point, we are looking for a RESCUE to pull Scrappy. Adoption is no longer the option we are pursuing. After everything that has happened, we need someone experienced and properly equipped to manage his MegaE and give him the specialized care he needs.

We love this boy, but a shelter is simply not the right environment for a MegaE puppy. Even though Scrappy has his highchair, his condition requires daily management that goes beyond what we are equipped to provide long-term.

Scrappy has also lost some weight. Per the vet, I am currently making him meatballs using canned food and soaked dry food formed into balls to help get calories into him and hopefully put some weight back on him. 💙

The video attached is Scrappy. This sweet boy is still fighting, still trusting us and still depending on us to find the right place for him.

WE NEED A RESCUE.

Please, if you know a rescue experienced with Megaesophagus or special-needs dogs, TAG THEM. Send them this post. Share the video. Share Scrappy’s story.

I don’t want to wait until it’s too late to find him somewhere safe.

🙏 RESCUES — PLEASE HELP US HELP SCRAPPY. 🙏

💙💙💙 PLEASE SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!! 💙💙💙

🚨💔 I LEFT THE SHELTER TODAY WITH A KNOT IN MY STOMACH. 💔🚨

If you’ve noticed me tagging followers in the comments of every dog I’ve posted over the last two days, there’s a reason.

I’m not going into all the details just yet because the incoming dogs still have a hold…

But I need you to understand where we are.

WE WENT FROM 4 EMPTY KENNELS TO EVERY. SINGLE. KENNEL. FULL.

And that scares me.

Because those aren’t just 10 occupied kennels to me.

I know the dogs behind those kennel doors. I love those dogs. 💔

I know which one needs a little extra reassurance. I know which one lights up when I grab their favorite toy. I know who wants the ball, who wants the frisbee, who wants the pool and who just wants me to sit beside them and give them some love.

I know the scared ones who finally decided I was safe enough to trust.

I know the ones who watch me walk away when their yard time is over and I have to close that kennel door again.

They become a part of my heart.

I work all night, change into my shelter clothes and go straight to them because they matter THAT much to me. I spend my free time taking pictures, videos, writing posts, answering messages, working with them and trying everything I can think of to get somebody to notice them.

Then I go home and try to sleep…

But when we’re full like this, my mind doesn’t leave the shelter when my body does.

I think about those kennel doors.

I think about the dogs behind them.

I think about the next stray that could come in and the fact that there isn’t an empty kennel waiting for them.

And the thought that a dog I’ve spent weeks loving, working with and fighting for could suddenly be in jeopardy because we need space absolutely tears me apart.

THOSE DOGS ARE AT RISK. 💔

This is why I tag you.

This is why you see the same faces on my page again and again.

This is why I beg.

This is why I push so hard.

Because I refuse to sit quietly and wait until I’m forced to put 🚨 AT RISK 🚨 over a dog’s picture.

PLEASE DON’T WAIT FOR THAT POST TO START SHARING THEM.

Share them NOW.

Every share puts that dog’s face in front of another person—and that person could be the one who walks through our doors and changes their entire life.

And one more thing…

Please DO NOT come at me sideways swinging with negativity.

I’m already carrying enough emotionally. I will not use the energy I need for these dogs arguing with people on social media.

I won’t engage. Comments will be deleted and people will be blocked.

My heart, my time and my energy belong to these dogs right now.

I will keep showing up.

I will keep loving them.

I will keep fighting for them.

But I need your help. 💔🐾

PLEASE SHARE THESE DOGS. HELP ME GET THEM OUT OF THOSE KENNELS AND INTO HOMES BEFORE I HAVE TO MAKE the posts I absolutely dread making.

No dog is left behind. Not if I have anything to say about it. 💙

💙💙💙 MEET ANDRÉ!!! 💙💙💙

André is available for adoption at the City of Shasta Lake Animal Shelter! Just look at that big, happy smile! 😍

This sweet boy has already been through a lot in his short year and a half of life. André’s owner became homeless and was living in her car with him when a freak accident landed her in the hospital. She ultimately made the heartbreaking decision to surrender André because she wanted something better for him. She follows my page and has trusted me to help find him a family who can give him what she desperately wants for him—a safe, loving home with a roof over his head, instead of the roof of a car. 💔💙

So now I’m going to do everything I can to keep that promise.

I tried EVERY ball and toy with André and got nothing…until I found a rubber ball that bounced. GAME ON! 😂 He finally lit up and started having a blast! Unfortunately, that poor ball met its demise today. André completely annihilated it. 🤣 I was already scrambling on Amazon trying to find a replacement when I spotted the frisbees donated for Luthor…and tucked in with them was a green squeaky Kong ball!

OMG—THANK YOU, JILL!! 🙌💙 That ball was a lifesaver! André’s eyes lit up and he LOVES it! Apparently this boy just has very specific standards when it comes to his toys. 😂

André is good with other dogs, but if you have a dog, a meet & greet is required so we can make sure everyone gets along. He is NOT good with cats, so he needs a cat-free home. He is also great with kids of all ages, as long as they are respectful and know how to treat a dog.

André has already lost the home and person he knew. Now he deserves the chance to start over with someone who will give him the stability, love and security his former owner wanted so badly for him.

Come meet this handsome, goofy, ball-loving boy and help me keep my promise to his previous owner. 💙🐾

🐾 HEY EVERYONE… BUDDY HERE! 💙

I figured it was time I spoke for myself because I’ve been waiting at the City of Shasta Lake Animal Shelter since August 14th… and somehow I’m STILL here.

I’m about 2 years old and a handsome Great Pyrenees/Husky mix. I’ve only had TWO meet and greets, and guess what?! I did AMAZING at both of them! Yet I watched them leave while I went back to my kennel. 💔

I’m a pretty chill, happy-go-lucky guy. I love affection and snuggles, enjoy playing a little fetch, I’m treat motivated and take my treats like a gentleman. I’ve done great with female dogs, and if you have a dog, we’ll need to have a meet and greet to make sure we’re a good match. Respectable children who know how to treat a dog are suggested.

But Buddy has one BIG favor to ask…

PLEASE don’t wait until the shelter is full and suddenly you see “BUDDY IS AT RISK” across my picture. 😢

My shelter friend Cheri doesn’t want to have to scramble at the last minute trying to get me out because I’m at risk. She wants me to find the RIGHT home—the perfect home for me—before it ever gets to that point. 💙

I’m not asking for much. A family, some love, a few treats, maybe a game of fetch and a place where I finally belong.

I’ve only been given two chances since August 14th…

🙏 Will YOU be meet and greet number THREE? Maybe you’re the one I’ve been waiting for.

💙 PLEASE SHARE ME NOW—DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT’S URGENT! 💙

😂🥏 LUTHOR HERE… WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT MY FRISBEE PROBLEM. 🥏😂

Hi everyone, Luthor here! 👋🐾

As you can clearly see from my photo, I take my frisbee responsibilities VERY seriously. This isn’t a hobby. This is a lifestyle. This is my JOB. 😂

Now, I have a question for all you dog people out there…

DOES AN INDESTRUCTIBLE DOG FRISBEE ACTUALLY EXIST?! 🤔🥏

My shelter friend Cheri is currently on the hunt for one because apparently I have a little problem.

I started with SIX perfectly good frisbees.

Want to know how many I have left?

ONE. 😳😂

In my defense, I’m just conducting quality-control testing. If a frisbee can’t survive Luthor, was it really a good frisbee to begin with?! 🤷‍♂️

Cheri says she needs to find me something super durable—preferably Luthor-proof—but it can’t be so heavy that it doesn’t fly! Because what’s the point of an indestructible frisbee if she can’t chuck that sucker across the yard for me?! 😂

And before anyone suggests I simply stop chewing on them…

Absolutely not. Next question. 🤣🤣

So all my fellow frisbee-freak dog parents, HELP MY GIRL OUT! What frisbees have survived your professional destroyers?!

Drop your recommendations in the comments because at the rate I’m going, Frisbee #6 is currently living on borrowed time. 😬🥏😂

Sincerely,
Luthor — Shelter Frisbee Quality Control Department 🐾😂

P.S. Cheri says I’m expensive. I say she should be grateful for my dedication to product testing. 🤣

⚠️ I DON’T DO WELL WITH BULLIES OR THREATS. ⚠️

I want to make something very clear.

This person had an opportunity to meet Momo, who has since gone to rescue. A meet and greet was scheduled, and they were a no-show.

When a rescue stepped up for Momo, I supported it 100%. My responsibility is to advocate for these animals and do what I believe is in their best interest. Momo had an opportunity to go to rescue, and I was not going to hold him back from that opportunity after a scheduled meet and greet was missed.

Now this same person has tried to hijack Rolo’s adoption post, and then went back to Momo’s post and made comments that I considered threatening toward me.

I WILL NOT TOLERATE IT.

You can disagree with a decision. You can be disappointed. You can have a different opinion. But bullying, harassment and threats cross a line.

I spend my free time advocating for these animals, working with them, getting to know them and trying to help them find the best possible outcome. Every decision I make is centered around THE DOG and what is best for that animal.

Anyone who chooses to bully me, threaten me, harass me, or interfere with another shelter animal’s adoption post will be blocked.

No ifs, ands or buts about it.

I will continue advocating for these animals, and I will not be intimidated for doing what I believe is in their best interest.

Now let’s keep the focus where it belongs — on finding homes for the animals who are still waiting. 🐾❤️

🚨🐾 CALLING ALL SMALL DOG LOVERS!!! WHERE ARE YOU?! 🐾🚨

People are ALWAYS asking us, “Do you have any small dogs?” Well… YES!!! We do!! And somehow this adorable little guy has NOT HAD ONE SINGLE MEET & GREET! 😭💔

💙 MEET ROLO!!! 💙

Rolo is available for adoption at the City of Shasta Lake Animal Shelter and he is patiently waiting for someone to give him his second chance at a furever home! 🏡🐾

Rolo is a handsome little Min Pin/Doxie mix who is only about 1 year old, so he’s still basically a puppy with plenty of personality, energy and love to give!

🎥 WATCH HIS VIDEO!!! This little dude LOVES to play fetch! 😂 Throw it and he’ll chase it down and proudly bring it right back to me. We’re just working on one tiny detail…

ROLO… YOU HAVE TO DROP IT IF YOU WANT ME TO THROW IT AGAIN! 🤣😂

He hasn’t quite figured out that part of the game yet! But honestly, that just makes him even more entertaining. ❤️

Rolo came to us as a stray, so unfortunately I don’t have any back history on him. I’m honestly surprised nobody ever came looking for this little guy.

🐶 DOGS: If you have another dog, a meet & greet is required to make sure everyone gets along. Rolo has given some dogs little nose kisses while greeting them through the kennel fencing, which is promising! 🥰

🐱 CATS: Cats are going to be a NO-GO for Rolo. I took him into the cat room to see how he would react, and let’s just say… Rolo is NOT joining the kitty fan club. 😂 So a cat-free home, please!

👧👦 CHILDREN: Respectful children are suggested. They need to understand how to appropriately interact with and respect a dog’s space.

And when Rolo is finished playing? This little guy has a sweet side too. He enjoys attention, sitting in our laps and giving kisses. 💙

Small dogs usually get a TON of attention, so I just don’t understand how Rolo hasn’t had ONE meet & greet yet!

He’s young.
He’s playful.
He’s adorable.
He’s got personality.
He plays fetch.
He gives kisses.
And he’s sitting in a shelter waiting for someone to finally choose HIM. 💔

Please don’t just scroll past him. Watch his video, share his post, and come meet Rolo! One share could put his little face in front of the person who has been waiting for him. 🏡💙🐾

💙💙💙 MEET LUTHOR!!! 💙💙💙
Luthor is available for adoption at the City of Shasta Lake Animal Shelter!

Just look at that face…and then look at that FRISBEE! 😂🥏 These pictures show a completely different dog from the terrified boy I met just a few weeks ago.

Luthor is a handsome Husky/Shepherd/Lab mix, about 18 months old, who ended up at the shelter through absolutely no fault of his own.

If you remember Luthor and Lex when I first posted them, you probably remember two dogs trembling in their kennel, avoiding me and unsure of everything around them. Lex looked to Luthor for protection, and gaining their trust was going to take time.

I started working with them little by little, never expecting too much too fast. Once we were finally able to separate them into different kennels, I could really start working with Luthor one-on-one.

I always say the way to a dog’s heart is through their stomach. Apparently Luthor didn’t get that memo. 🤣

The way to Luthor’s heart is through a FRISBEE!!! 🥏💙

I pulled one out one day just to see if he was interested, and I swear you could almost SEE the light bulb turn on. 💡😂

THIS BOY IS A FRISBEE FREAK!!!

That scared, unsure dog suddenly came alive. He wanted to play. He wanted to interact with me. He wanted me to throw it again…and again…and AGAIN! 😂 He will fetch that frisbee for what seems like hours if you let him!

And if there’s a kiddie pool nearby? Even better! 💦🥏 Luthor LOVES the water and will actually dunk his whole face into the pool to retrieve his frisbee!

These photos show the Luthor I get to see now—the bright eyes, those magnificent ears, that goofy smile and the boy proudly carrying around his favorite yellow frisbee. 💙

And I’m going to put videos in the comments because pictures simply don’t do his personality justice. You need to see him playing frisbee and interacting with me to understand just how far this boy has come.

Luthor does have a scar underneath one of his eyes from being attacked by another dog(not Lex)@. He also came to us with some hair loss that we believe may have been related to poor nutrition. The wonderful news is that his coat is growing back, and with good food, care and lots of love, he’s looking better all the time. ❤️‍🩹

🐾 ABOUT LUTHOR:
• Approximately 18 months old
• Husky/Shepherd/Lab mix
• Frisbee-obsessed! 🥏
• Loves fetch and could play for hours
• Loves the kiddie pool 💦
• Has made AMAZING progress learning to trust people
• Gets along with other dogs, but a meet & greet is required if you have a dog
• Cats are unknown; as far as I know, he has never been around them
• Older, respectful children are suggested

Luthor’s story is exactly why I don’t judge a shelter dog by how they act when they’re terrified inside a kennel.

Sometimes all they need is time, patience, someone willing to earn their trust…and apparently one really good frisbee. 🥹💙🥏

Now Luthor needs the most important thing of all:

A FAMILY.

Someone who will keep that frisbee flying. Someone who will give him a kiddie pool to splash in. Someone who will look past the scars from his old life and give him the chance to finally start his new one.

Come meet this special boy. 💙

His furever person may be one share away.
