🌸 Welcome to Dogwood Doxies, Poppy! 🌸
We have a pretty exciting announcement to make... meet Poppy! 🐾💕
Poppy is officially joining the Dogwood Doxies family as our next breeding female, and we couldn't be more excited to watch her grow into her role here.
When we welcomed Timber's last litter in January, her delivery was difficult enough that we had already made the decision that she would be retired from breeding and spayed afterward. Timber has given us some very special babies, but her health and well-being have always come first.
Then came our little "oops" litter. 😂 Apparently Timber had one more chapter in her breeding story that she wasn't quite finished writing!
Now, though, it is officially time for Timber to hang up her maternity hat. She will be getting spayed and transitioning into her next very important position:

And honestly, we think she's going to be excellent at it. ❤️
Poppy will eventually step into Timber's place as our next breeding female, but we are in absolutely no rush. We won't be planning another litter for a couple of years. For now, Poppy gets to simply be a puppy, grow up, learn, play, and become part of our family.
And when the time finally comes, we are so excited about the genetic possibilities!
With Poppy and Woody, we have the potential for puppies in colors including:
🤎 Cream
🤎 Chocolate & Cream
🤎 Chocolate & Tan
🖤 Black & Tan
🖤 Black & Cream
And depending on which genes are inherited, those colors may also appear with dapple and/or piebald patterns, giving us an absolutely gorgeous variety of possibilities.
Of course, genetics has a funny way of keeping us humble, so we won't know exactly what combinations are possible in any particular litter until the puppies arrive. That's part of the fun!
Woody isn't going anywhere, either. He will remain our handsome boy and our stud for the foreseeable future. So while Timber is moving into retirement and Poppy is beginning her journey, Woody will continue holding down his very important position as Dogwood's resident dad. 💙
Most importantly, Poppy isn't just joining our breeding program. She's joining our family. She'll grow up surrounded by kids, dogs, cats, puppy chaos, couch cuddles, and all the love that comes with being a Dogwood Doxie.
We can't wait for you all to watch her grow with us. 🐾🌸
