I can’t believe it’s already almost October once again! I’m beyond grateful for all the animals brought into the shop last year! Have a few bigger projects coming up that I’m excited to work on.
With youth deer brought in the last few weeks and the bears coming in, we’ve had some amazingly busy days in the shop and I can’t wait for many more. I’m definitely still accepting bears at this time whether it’s a shoulder, backpack, half life size or full life size…I can’t wait to bring your trophies back to life!
Please call ahead when planning to drop off any animals so I can make sure to be at the shop to meet you! Good luck to everyone going out this entire deer season and the rest of bear season!!

I’ll be in the shop today until 4 for drop offs!

There seems to be lots of velvet which is awesome! There is a $50 fee to preserve that velvet for a mount.

And also, please remember when caping out a deer, that if you cut up into the brisket or beyond which results in a prolonged period of extra stitching, there is a fee this year for “unnecessary stitching”. I understand there may be a small nick or two in the hide, that’s completely understandable. But last year we had a few come in where the brisket was cut in 5 or so pieces or split almost halfway up the neck. This takes a great deal of extra work to piece it back together and try to get the best possible mount.

Thank you so much to all the customers so far, I truly appreciate you! And good luck again to all the hunters going out today 😁

First velvet of the year on the table! Most have lost theirs, but some are still holding strong! Please remember to avoid touching the velvet if you plan to have it mounted and get it cooled asap! The quicker a taxidermist can work in it, the better the outcome! Bring on deer season 2026 😊

Good luck to all the youth hunters out there on this beautiful late summer morning! It’s exciting to see a few posts already! Please remember, cool down your deer or get it to a a processor ASAP, this warm weather doesn’t help preserving a hide for mounting! If you cape the deer yourself, please avoid splitting the hide down the back because these summer deer have such pretty and thin hides. If you’re unsure how to cape a deer, I’ll include a diagram here on this post. There’s never “too much” hide left on when brought to your taxidermist, it’s much better than not having enough! Again, good luck to everyone and I can’t wait for the animated stories from the kids 😁

I am so very thankful to all the customers from last year for a very successful year! With all of the 2025 deer either mounted or already out of the shop and back home, I’m ready to take on more work and excited to start 😁

Took in the first black bear of the 2026 season and he’s a big boy! Just look at that noggin!

Some reminders for bear season: Please make sure to cool your bear hide as quickly as possible. Try not to roll it up immediately to cool it because the center stays warm and can cause slippage later. If going through an outfitter, please tell them how you plan to mount your bear because this may change how they cape out your bear. If you want a half life size with full belly exposure, especially showing off the chest, it is helpful to try to stay away from cutting through the white patch of hair on its chest (if it has one) to create a better product. It can definitely be fixed, but if it’s kept intact, you get a more perfect finished product. Remember, you can always “tube skin” a bear or use a dorsal cut (up the back) so the entire belly skin is intact if doing a life size or half life size. Bear rugs would be the standard belly/chest cut.

I’m excited for this season and can’t wait for more! Good luck to all the bear hunters this season, wherever you’re hunting! 😁

This grey fox was a fun challenge! This cute little fella had a few blemishes including 2 detached legs and 1 severely injured one…but I was able to find a form that showcased his good leg and hid the imperfections while still showcasing him as a whole with all 4 legs displayed 😊 doing a bunch of finish work this week to get some deer out of my shop and to their new homes and hopefully finish up mounting the rest of 2025 deer in the next few weeks!
