Who’s taking care of your pets when you can’t be? 🐾
Meet Reining Cats and Dogs, a pet concierge team serving Seattle, West Seattle, Mercer Island, and the Eastside. We’re a small local team of certified, licensed, bonded, and insured pet care professionals. We do dog walks, cat visits, and overnight stays.
Every new family starts with an initial in-home consultation, so we learn your pet’s routine before day one. After every visit you get a GPS-tracked walk report and photo updates.

Meet Timothy Chalameow 🧡 Can you help him get home before winter?https://www.gofundme.com/f/a-loving-home-for-timothy-chalameow Thank you for donating and sharing! 🧡
Timothy is a sweet orange stray, about a year old, who has been showing up on doorsteps in West Seattle. One of our clients has been looking out for him, and he is the most affectionate cat. He purrs, follows you down the sidewalk, and clearly wants to be someone's indoor cat. That is not typical for a stray!
Timothy has some health issues that make it hard for him to protect himself or hunt, so a cold, wet Seattle winter outside could be dangerous for him. The good news: kind friends are ready to adopt him. They just need a little help with his vet care, food, and supplies.
That's where you come in. 💛 Every dollar helps, and sharing this post helps too.

From all of us on the Reining Cats and Dogs team, the pet sitters and dog walkers serving Seattle, West Seattle, Mercer Island, and the Eastside: thank you for helping a good boy find his forever home.

This or That: Fall Edition 🍂
Fall leaves are at their peak around Seattle, and our dog walkers are seeing some very strong opinions out on our walks. Leaf piles vs. puddles. Sweaters vs. no sweaters. Pumpkin vs. peanut butter.
So we want to know: what would YOUR pup pick?
1️⃣ Leaf pile or Puddle2️⃣ Sweater or No sweater3️⃣ Morning walk or Sunset walk4️⃣ Pumpkin or Peanut butter5️⃣ Zoomies or Couch nap
Drop your pup's picks in the comments, like "Leaf, Sweater, Sunset, PB, Zoomies." Cat parents, we see you too. Tell us what your cat would pick! 🐾

Mushroom season is officially here in the PNW. 🍄
After a few good fall rains, wild mushrooms pop up everywhere: lawns, parks, street trees, and all along our favorite hiking trails. Most won’t seriously harm your dog. But a few can be deadly, and you can’t tell which is which just by looking.
The one to know: the death cap. Public Health – Seattle & King County says death caps are common in Western Washington, and they’ve been found right here in Seattle, often under planted oaks and other hardwoods. Veterinary toxicologists say the death cap is behind most fatal mushroom poisonings in dogs. On trails, watch rotting logs and stumps too, where the small brown Deadly Galerina grows.
If your dog eats a wild mushroom:
1️⃣ Call your vet or ASPCA Animal Poison Control right away: (888) 426-4435
2️⃣ Don’t wait for symptoms. The deadliest mushrooms can take 6 or more hours to cause signs, and a dog may seem to get better before liver damage shows up.
3️⃣ Don’t make your dog throw up unless a vet tells you to.
4️⃣ Bring a sample to the vet, wrapped in a paper towel inside a paper bag. A photo helps too.
Our dog walkers keep pups on a short leash past mushroom patches all season long, from Seattle and West Seattle to Mercer Island and the Eastside.

Professional pet sitter or app sitter? 🐾

Before you hand over your house keys this holiday season, it helps to know what you’re actually comparing. Here’s the quick version:

✔️ Licensed: Washington doesn’t have a pet sitting license, so “licensed” means a registered business. That takes time, paperwork, and a real commitment to doing this professionally.
✔️ Bonded & insured: protection for your pet and your home, carried in the business’s own name.
✔️ Certified: voluntary training like NAPPS, PetSitterTraining, and Red Cross Cat & Dog First Aid.

Apps like Rover and Bark are directories. Plenty of kind people use them, but Rover runs only a basic background check, and confirming insurance, training, and a backup plan is up to you.

Our new blog post breaks it all down, plus 6 questions to ask any pet sitter before the holidays. Link in the first comment 👇

What’s the first thing you ask before handing over your keys? Tell us below 👇

Holiday dates are filling up across Seattle, West Seattle, Mercer Island, and the Eastside. New clients start with an initial in-home consultation.

Well, Seattle, the rain is back. ☔
Quick poll: what kind of rain walker is your dog?
A) Puddle jumper
😎 Tiptoer who dodges every drop
C) “Absolutely not.”
D) Mud roller, returns proud
Drop your letter in the comments. We see every type out there!
Our favorite rainy-walk tip, straight from Hill’s Pet Nutrition: keep a towel by the door and dry paws and legs right after every walk. Your floors will thank you.
And yes, our dog walkers go out rain or shine, across Seattle, West Seattle, Mercer Island, and the Eastside. It’s in the name.
