Had the opportunity to play with the wonderful music crew from/at Unity of South Sound today. They have a nice sound system too so I sang three selections: The Times They Are a Changin'...Smile...and I'm Pulling Through. Thanks for the invite Serni! And nope, haven't cut my hair, it's just in a handy "bun" to survive the rain this morning! Sorry we forgot to play "By the Time I Get to Phoenix"--since Serni had just flown in! :)

Had a wonderful time playing a two hour holiday music set at Factoria Mall yesterday, Christmas Eve Day. Fun to see some of the merchants I knew from before, and had such positive feedback! Hope I get to return there before next Christmas!

Very moving moment while playing at a senior facility for their holiday lunch. I was doing my usual selection of oldies, like Girl from Ipanema and As Time Goes By, and I decided to add in Rocket Man from Elton John. I looked over at a table and a woman, not a senior, was there with I believe her mom, and she started crying. Later she came over to me and told me her son had just died three weeks ago and his favorite song was Rocket Man. She felt like he was there with them. Of course I teared up. Sometimes we don't even know how we're reaching people. But something in my head told me to play Rocket Man. Maybe he WAS there with them.

Finished up three months of Friday evenings at Washington Athletic Club and also working Senior Living events. Mark your calendar for Christmas Eve Day, 12 noon to 2pm--I'll be playing music at Factoria Mall in Bellevue. Come on by and get your last minute gift shopping taken care of!

While it's always best for me personally to play somewhere that has an acoustic piano I DO have a decent portable keyboard that sounds great IF I need to bring my own. All I'd need is a hand getting it in the door!

Hello music lovers. I was extended at the WAC for four more Fridays, through October. If anyone wants to come out and listen let me know and I can likely get you on the guest list. I'll be in Torchy's playing everything from old standards to Adele, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran. It would be great to see friends so just let me know. Food is great too!

I have to admit I have not done as good a job keeping this particular page updated as I should have so I'm going to try to do better. I currently am playing music at several different senior living facilities on a rotating basis AND I play periodically on Fridays at the Washington Athletic Club. This pic was taken last holiday season at Factoria Mall where I played a Christmas set. Just played piano at Marketplace at Factoria from 5pm-7pm this evening....first time since late last summer. It was fun to play again and a couple of friends even stopped by--thank you Jean and Louise. It's being scheduled a little differently for now so I'll keep everyone posted. I do play again noon-2pm on Saturday May 22nd so hope to see some of you there! I had a tinge of sadness realizing Deems is no longer with us, and also that one of our most loyal regulars, Tim, had passed away. Nothing ever stays the same. But bottom line is it was great to be back making some music and, in spite of my fears, I had NOT forgotten all my songs!

Most of you know I have played piano at Marketplace at Factoria since 2009,usually about 3 days per month, until COVID shut things down. I rotated in the lineup with two other wonderful pianists, Tom Kellock who played at El Gaucho, and Deems Tsutakawa, a local jazz legend who was famous as far back as the late 80's. I learned today that Deems passed away after an ongoing battle with cancer. I was so saddened to hear this and still can't even believe it. Just wanted to say "thank you Deems" for all the music you gave us over the years. Deepest condolences to his friends and family. He will be missed.
