escue is a New Hope Partner with Maricopa County, so we're able to pull at-risk dogs off county's euthanasia list ("e-list") and thus saving their lives by placing them in foster homes until we find their forever homes.

Today, we want to honor Palutena.

She had a family.

Not in the form of humans… at least not that we know of. She was a stray and no family came looking for her. But she did have a family - of dogs.

She came into the shelter with Ash and Sebastian - along with her 6 newborn puppies.

Last week, she was given a deadline because she was scared. Just like many we save. Just like Ash. Just like Sebastian.

Her puppies were safe.

But her life was not.

Yesterday, her deadline came and went. Nobody stepped up for her.

As a foster-based rescue, we can only save lives when people open their homes.

We understand the heartbreaking reality that we cannot save them all.

But sometimes, we still try.

This morning, we tried. Even without a foster in place. Why?

Because we had already saved members of her family - and we believe family shouldn’t get left behind.

We even decided to change her name to Ohana.

A nod to the beloved Disney movie:

“Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.”

But when we logged on early this morning to submit her pull request, she was already off the portal.

A frantic attempt was made to save her life. An email was sent. A pull request was submitted.

But we were too late.

She was already gone.

It’s one thing to accept that you can’t save them all.

It’s another thing entirely when you try to save them.

Our hearts are incredibly heavy today.

We wanted to make sure she wasn’t left behind.

We weren’t able to do that.

But we can make certain she isn’t forgotten.

We want to urge people to take euthanasia deadlines seriously. Rescues across the valley are overwhelmed yet this kind of heartbreak is unbearable.

Especially since after the fact, we learned there was someone willing to foster her. #

Like us, they were simply too late.

As we mourn Ohana together, we ask that you keep her in your thoughts today.

Remember her.

Speak her name.

Let her story matter.

And while we still haven’t been able to recover Sebastian, we can only hope that from above, Ohana is watching over him.

Run free, sweet girl.

You mattered.

And you will not be forgotten. 💔🐾

Cuteness overload, seven days a week. 🐾💕

Meet Chiquita, Ryder, and Maverick - three adorable Chihuahua mixes who are proof that second chances can change everything.

All three found themselves on the euthanasia list with deadlines due to fear. Shelter life was overwhelming for these little dogs, but once given the chance to decompress in a loving foster home, their true personalities began to shine.

Today, they are thriving - and absolutely adore their foster mom and each other!

🐾 Chiquita, 2 years old, 12 lbs (and we think she may even have a little Italian Greyhound mixed in!)
🐾 Ryder, 2 years old, just under 10 lbs
🐾 Maverick, 2 years old, just under 10 lbs

These tiny companions are full of love, personality, and charm. Whether you’re looking for one loyal sidekick or want to keep the fun going with more than one, they can be adopted together or separately.

Their lives were almost cut short simply because they were scared. Now thanks to their loving foster, they’re ready for the happy ending they deserve!

Three little dogs. Three lives saved. Three opportunities to add a whole lot of love to your family … every day of the week!

Meet Cooper! The cutest mini husky boy around!

Cooper is a Klee Kai mix who was bred at home, then surrendered to the shelter before he was even a year old. Sadly, he was given a euthanasia deadline simply for being fearful in the shelter environment. But once Cooper was given the chance to decompress and feel safe, his true personality slowly started to shine through. And with each passing day, this little guy continues coming out of his shell more and more.

Cooper is around 2 years old and weighs just under 25 lbs, making him the perfect pint sized adventure buddy.

One thing is certain: Cooper absolutely thrives with other dogs and must go to a home with canine companions. Having doggy playmates brings him the most joy and has helped build his confidence tremendously. He looks to other dogs for comfort, guidance, and reassurance.

Recently, Cooper joined his foster family on a summer trip to California where he got to experience all sorts of new sights, sounds, people, and adventures! Over Memorial Day Weekend, his foster family hosted a house full of guests, including kids, and Cooper did great. Moments like these are such a beautiful reminder of how far he’s come.

While Cooper may be shy at first, behind those cautious eyes is a heart of pure gold. With patience, love, and a home willing to let him continue blossoming at his own pace, Cooper is going to make an incredibly loyal companion.

If you’re looking to add a sweet, sensitive, fun sized husky boy to your pack, Cooper just might be your perfect match. 🐾

This week’s Pawsitive Furspective is brought to you by all of us pups currently spending our days at Heidi’s Village.

🐾 Arthur (Red Queensland Heeler)
🐾 Athena (Magnificent Mystery Mix)
🐾 Pacey (Black Mouth Cur Mix)
🐾 Poppy (Husky… Shiba Inu (?) Mix)
🐾 Wolfie (GSD Mix… looks Aussie)

Not too long ago, every single one of us was sitting in a shelter kennel scared, overwhelmed, and running out of time. Some of us shut down completely. Some of us trembled in fear. Some of us had already started losing hope.

But somehow, here we are. Alive. Safe. Given another chance.

And we don’t plan on wasting a single minute.

So even while we wait for foster or forever homes, we still choose joy. We run in the play yards. We soak up the sunshine. We greet our favorite staff and volunteers with happy tails and hopeful eyes. We make dog friends and try to become more brave. We enjoy the treats, the belly rubs, the fresh air, and the quiet moments where we finally feel safe enough to just… be dogs.

Because life doesn’t start once everything is perfect.

Life is happening right now.

Still, if we’re being honest… what we want most can’t be found in boarding.

We dream about homes. About families. About finally belonging to someone. We dream about curling up next to our people after a long day. Weekend adventures. Sleeping peacefully through the night knowing we’re loved and safe.

So while we wait for our foster or forever families, we’ll keep doing what we promised ourselves we’d do after getting a second chance: live every minute.

Every sunny afternoon in the yard. Every tail wag. Every walk. Every cuddle. Every new friend. Every moment of hope.

Because life is short. And after almost losing ours… we know better than anyone just how important it is to make every minute count. ❤️🐾

If you’d like to spend your minutes (and then some) with any one of us, please send our rescue a DM.

We can’t wait to meet you!

Dallas, formerly Moxie, is a save we won’t forget.

There are so many dogs being networked day in and day out that it can be difficult to keep up with all the dogs needing help.

Truthfully, we hadn’t even seen Dallas’ video until someone from out of state reached out to us begging us to help her. We watched that video over and over again with tears streaming down our faces.

It was absolutely heartbreaking to see a dog so terrified of the shelter environment that she sought safety and refuge underneath the bed in her kennel. Fear had completely consumed her.

In that moment, we knew one thing for certain: her life could not end there.

Thankfully, just in time, a hero stepped up and made it possible to save Dallas’ life.

But what’s even more incredible is that the same person who saved her… became her forever family.

Within a few hours of leaving the shelter, Dallas began shedding the fear that had defined her there. The scared dog hiding under a bed was replaced by the sweet, happy, loving girl she truly is.

Dallas was never “just a fearful dog.” She was a dog who needed compassion, patience, and someone willing to see beyond the fear.

Today, Dallas is living the life she always deserved because someone took a chance on her and believed there was more to her story than the environment that was breaking her spirit.

And that chance changed everything.

Endless thanks to Dallas’ hero 🙏🏼❤️

Adopt Leia 🤍

Princess Leia, aka “The Princess of Payson” as her foster lovingly calls her, has been patiently waiting for her forever home and wanted to stop by to tell you a little about herself.

For starters, she is currently enjoying summer vacation in Payson! This girl absolutely loves life in the pines and thrives in the great outdoors.

Leia is one of those rare huskies that does well off leash. She loves exploring the property, soaking up the fresh mountain air, and always makes her way right back home after her adventures.

She’s even self-appointed herself as the official Guardian of the house and takes her job of keeping coyotes away very seriously!

While Leia has done well around secure dogs at adoption events, we truly think this princess would prefer to be the center of your universe and your one and only four-legged companion.

Leia isn’t your typical super high energy husky. She is actually pretty laid back. She’s happiest playing fetch for a little while before curling up next to you on the couch for cuddles and relaxation.

Leia is approximately 6–7 years old and around 50 lbs. She’s incredibly sweet, full of personality, and her adorable husky charm is guaranteed to steal your heart.

If you’re looking for a loyal best friend with equal parts adventure buddy and couch companion… Leia may just be your girl. 🤍

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who fought for our country - past and present. The heroes who sacrificed for our freedom, both human and canine alike, will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸🐾

🙏🏼 As a small token of appreciation, our rescue always offers discounted adoption fees for active and retired military members.

But starting TODAY through Friday at 5PM, we’ll be offering even deeper adoption fee discounts for military members as a thank you for your service and sacrifice ❤️🤍💙

Four Hundred.

Two years ago, when we started this rescue on a prayer and a whim - with the sole intention of saving e-listed dogs, we thought maybe we’d save a few dogs here and there. Hoping to make a small dent while still changing lives along the way.

If you told us back then that just two years later we’d be celebrating our 400th save… we would have thought that sounded impossible!

Yet here we are.

Today, May 23rd, we saved dog #400. That’s four-hundred dogs’ lives saved and even more humans’ lives changed. Because that’s how it works. We save their lives and they change ours.

It’s been a wild ride filled with highs, lows, heartbreak, victories, lessons learned, and more emotions than we can count. But through it all, one thing has remained constant: how incredibly grateful we are to be doing what we love - saving the lives of at-risk dogs with the help of an amazing community standing beside us.

We could not do this without our incredible fosters or the people who donate, volunteer, transport, network, advocate, share posts, cheer us on, and believe these dogs deserve a second chance.

Every single save has been a team effort. Whether you’ve helped directly or indirectly - we’re able to do this because of YOU.

Over the past two years, we’ve saved all kinds of dogs:

🐾 Puppies and seniors (and everything in between).
🐾 Medical dogs and behavior dogs.
🐾 Purebreds and mixed breeds.
🐾 The forgotten.
🐾 The overlooked.
🐾 The misunderstood.
🐾 The ones with crippling fear.
🐾 The ones with broken hearts.
🐾 The ones running out of time.

Some dogs have been easier than others. Some dogs have challenged us. But with every setback came lessons that helped us grow, adapt, and become even more determined to keep saving lives.

Today, thanks to one of our seasoned fosters stepping up once again, we were able to save Sweetie (now named Tango) and officially welcome her as the 400th dog to join the Heart of Infinity family.

As we look back on the lives saved, our hearts are incredibly full.

And our eyes are forward - focused on the lives we’ve yet to save.

Here’s to saving even more!

With infinite gra

Next up: Athena!

This girl, who is aptly named, is every bit as sweet as she is beautiful.

Once Athena gives you her heart, there is absolutely no shortage of love and affection! And all this girl wants in return? Love. Oh and belly rubs. And if anyone is curious, you get major bonus points if you’ve got treats!

And she wants it alllll to herself! If you’re looking for one dog to check ALL the boxes without needing a whole pack of pups, look no further.

Athena is ready to be the one and only doggy goddess in your life 👑

She’s full of life, playful, and so much fun to be around, but she’s also easygoing. After her little bursts of energy, she’s more than happy to settle down for cuddles and soak up all the love she can get.

But what Athena wants most isn’t toys, treats, or even belly rubs. It’s a home. A real home. One with people she can call her own.

While the staff and volunteers at Heidi’s Village love her dearly, having to share them with so many other dogs just isn’t enough for this girl. Athena is longing for connection, consistency, and a couch to claim as her throne.

She’s ready to trade kennel life for home life. Ready to give her whole heart to someone willing to give her a chance.

Could that someone be you? 🩷
