It’s official. Biggles is now a gelding and got his wolf teeth pulled. This decision was made with a lot of thought and weight. He will be my daughters horse as a 2nd to his dam, her mare Lily. Lily started having tendon issues that we’re working on with a recovery & treatment plan. She may always have future issues, but time will tell. Biggles is so much like her & Emma absolutely loves him. She kept telling me how much she wanted a white horse and has been helping with his training. He’s going to make her an exceptional horse to ride.
I’ll try to keep this page active with their progress. However, I do manage multiple pages, so the better one to watch would be cbar3horses.

I recently tested Biggles for MYHM and he came back as a carrier in heterozygous form. N/MY

In some research that I did on my own, strangles in particular is supposed to be a main trigger for episodes. However, he had strangles as a yearling and was the least affected of all of my herd that got strangles (10+ horses). His symptoms were so minor and was over it in such a short time, and zero symptoms of MY. With this being such a newly discovered disease, I think there’s more research needed and more to learn. A big question I have now is, if strangles is such a main trigger for episodes, then why did he not have any episodes and didn’t get strangles nearly as bad as the others? Perhaps there’s just more to learn.

Biggles eating breakfast with the other colts. He’s just enjoying growing up & being dirty right now.  It’s nice to see that he’s a little butt high right now because that means he’s growing again. I plan to start him under saddle this summer.
