There is no such thing as too many toys according to Cooke. In fact, his foster family is pretty sure the toy pile on the couch is getting a little ridiculous—and Cooke would strongly disagree!

At just 4 months old, Cooke is a silly, smart, determined little guy who is ALL puppy. He loves wrestling with his brother, zooming around the backyard, and searching the house for the perfect toy to carry back to the couch.

Cooke and his siblings recently kicked Parvo’s butt, and this sweet survivor is ready for his next chapter. He’s working on potty training and leash manners and is absolutely obsessed with other dogs. A playful canine sibling would be a bonus, but isn’t required.

Cooke would do best with older kids and an active family ready for puppy energy, plenty of playtime, and all the adorable chaos that comes with having a puppy.

His dream home includes a fenced backyard, lots of toys, lots of adventures, and a family who will love him as much as he deserves.

Maggie is still waiting for her person.

Some dogs walk into a home and instantly know they’re safe. For Maggie, it takes a little more time. She needs someone willing to be patient, consistent, and show her that she finally has a place where she belongs.

Once she feels comfortable, her sweet, silly personality comes shining through. She’ll make you laugh with her toy-collecting obsession, happily soak up attention, and then curl up for some well-deserved couch time.

She’s potty-trained, crate-trained, kid-friendly, smart, playful, and eager to please.

Maggie would love to be your one-and-only, with no cats and a secure 6-foot fenced yard. She may need some extra patience as she adjusts, but in return, you’ll get a loyal girl who just wants to finally know what it feels like to be home.

What if reading a book could help a child build confidence AND make a shelter dog feel a little less alone? ❤️

That’s exactly what happens at Rescue Readers!

Our Rescue Readers program gives children a safe, judgment-free place to practice their reading skills while spending time with dogs who are waiting for their forever families.

Here’s how it works:
🐾Each child receives a Rescue Readers T-shirt
🐾Bring a favorite book (or two!)
🐾Read aloud to a shelter dog in their suite
🐾Create a fun enrichment project for our pups

The donation is just $20 per child, which covers their T-shirt, enrichment supplies, AND helps provide a vaccine for a dog in need.

Jordyn’s story started in West Texas, but thankfully, it didn’t end there.

He was one of 10 puppies born to a mama who was kept tied up in a pen. Sadly, only six puppies survived. A kind animal control officer stepped in, rescued the puppies, and eventually reached out to Fetching Tails Foundation when Jordyn was just four months old and already 30 pounds.

Today, Jordyn is a 60-pound bundle of love, laughs, and puppy silliness who is ready for his forever family.

Jordyn loves other dogs and needs a canine best friend in his new home. He’s also kid friendly, potty trained, trustworthy in the house, and absolutely obsessed with toys, treats, running around the yard, and snuggling with his people.

He’s still working on his manners and can get a little mouthy when excited, but he’s a smart boy who already knows “sit” and is eager to learn more.

Jordyn has come a long way from that West Texas puppy pen. Now he just needs someone to help write his happily ever after.

Meet Milka, a 6-month-old bundle of zoomies, snuggles, and puppy fun!

At 18 pounds and growing, Milka is an energetic, intelligent girl who loves to play, learn, and keep her foster family laughing with her silly expressions and puppy antics. When she’s ready to settle down, she’s just as happy curling up next to her people.

Milka is already a smart cookie and knows multiple commands. She’s crate trained, working on potty training, and loves playing with other dogs. A playful canine sibling is preferred as she absolutely loves her dog friends!

Milka came to the shelter after her owner suffered a stroke and could no longer care for her. She has adjusted beautifully in foster care and is now ready for a forever family who will keep her busy, continue her training, and give her all the love she deserves.

Batula is a little mystery mix with a huge heart!

At just 4 months old and 10 pounds, Batula is the sweetest little love bug with enough puppy energy to keep you laughing all day!

This curious boy LOVES to play, zoom around the yard, wrestle with his puppy friends, and chew on absolutely anything he can convince himself is a toy. And when he finally runs out of steam? You’ll find him passed out completely upside down on his back.

His DNA results basically said: “Your guess is as good as ours!” Batula is 24% Miniature Pinscher, 15% AmStaff, 9% Lab, 9% Rottweiler, plus a whole parade of other breeds—including Golden Retriever and Dachshund! Basically, he’s a 100% adorable rescue mutt.

Four months. That’s how long Capone has been waiting at our facility with almost no interest — and we truly cannot understand why. 🥹 This sweet, 3 year old old dog should not be growing up behind shelter walls.

Capone once had a family. He lived in a home with children, knew what it felt like to belong, and was loved. But when his family moved and couldn’t take him along, he lost the only life he knew.

And yet, Capone still shows up with a huge heart. He has made friends at the shelter, romps with his BFF Nana, and soaks up every cuddle from volunteers. But on field trips, the real Capone shines: he relaxes, plays, cuddles up for naps, and reminds us he is so ready for a home.

Capone is dog-friendly with slow introductions and has been a wonderful houseguest outside the shelter. He is athletic, smart, and happiest near his people. Because of his prey drive, he needs a cat-free home, a confident handler, and ideally a secure 6-foot fence. He would also do best without shared walls since he can be vocal when he wants to be heard — and after waiting this long, who can blame him?

Capone is not asking for much — just a chance. A couch to curl up on. A yard to play in. A person to remind him that he has not been forgotten.

In August 12 top notch dogs were adopted! But that’s not all. Volunteer interest continues to climb! We received 31 volunteer applications, and 11 new families signed up to foster dogs in need.
