I went to the shelter for 2 senior ladies today. Sadly one of them seemed to be stressed around cats so I didn’t take her. If it doesn’t seem like they’d thrive with us, taking them is more detrimental than beneficial. We will revisit up the road if she isn’t adopted soon.

There were so many perfect, beautiful kittens and cats there. So many very adoptable cats. But what fun is that? What’s the point of taking cats that will most likely be adopted from the shelter easily? We try and take the cats who are overlooked, or the cats who declining in the shelter. These cats are so special in all different ways.

They are already so happy and we just brought them in a few hours ago. The seniors, the special needs, the FIV+, the “unsure if they wanna be friendly or not” cats, are just the most perfect cats in the world and I’m so thankful that I get to love them.

Meet 2 year old Manny, also known as Muscles Marinara 💪💪 His little arms are like a bulldogs arms, stocky and muscular he’s so cute. He’s a manly boy but he doesn’t even realize it, he’s a mild mannered sweet gentleman who would do amazing in any home. He loves to be held and loved and would be a great friend to any human or cat (or dog!)

I loved her daughter last week and I love her this week 🥹 The apple did not fall far from the tree in this case. Summer’s daughter, Camille came to us and was adopted. She was one of the sweetest angels I’ve ever met and I’m so happy she’s loved and in a home. Now it’s mama’s turn. Summer will hangout in a tree most of the day, but make eye contact and it’s over!!! She exudes love and will beg for it!! She’s the sweetest angel and I hope she finds someone to love her for the perfect lady that she is. She’s about a year old and pure heaven.

Im so sad but rehoming my old man was the only option. Im tired and overwhelmed. He’s nice though. He would do well in any home.

Mama Marble is much happier now! She is realizing she’s safe and so is her baby! We don’t know how they ended up in someone’s yard or if she had any other babies but it’s possible to only have one kitten. They were also found with 2 older kittens (4-5 months) who we have as well, and they’re all really happy and back together now. Somehow they’re all a family. I’m not sure how, or who is related to who how, but they’re happy in the office together so that’s nice 🩷

We got a mom and single baby yesterday who was apparently dumped on someone’s property. I wish they could tell us what happened because mama seems so confused and on edge. Mama Marble & Baby Pebble have a room of their own and they’ll stay there for a little while until mama can get spayed. I’m hoping she starts to relax and sees us as her friends as time goes on, because she’s really precious and so is her baby. She’s a really great mom and we love them both so much. I’m so happy they’re with us 🩷

I’m sure I’m forgetting some but these are the cats we were able to say yes to this week, on top of a pretty full cafe. I will introduce them to you individually but here they are. I also closed the Kitten Lounge for a bit and moved the scared kittens over to the cat side because I felt they needed more exposure & traffic to see how much fun they can have and learn to let loose a bit.

We have a lot of mouths to feed and litters to fill so I if you would like to send us a few cans of food, toys, litter, treats, etc, I updated the wishlist today. We would appreciate so much, and everything helps a lot!! 🩷

Coming to visit also helps so much because these babies need all the love they can get. Thank you so much!

I cringe when people say “oh you’re angry!!” “You’re so young what do you have to be angry about?” “That one’s mean be careful”. Imagine you were just born, went to get some food, got trapped in a metal cage, had surgery and shots, and now those same people are trying to touch and love you??! I’d punch them too!!!!

I know it’s scary when they hiss and swat, but let’s give them a little bit of slack, go slow, and try and show them that we aren’t mean, we love them, and they’re safe.

So I was talking to my fiancé the other day about cats, of course, and I said something along the lines of how kittens are so hard and how they have no immune systems and can crash fast. He was like, “you say kittens are so hard but you also say seniors are too so what’s the ideal cat!?”

Here’s the answer and I’ll stand by it forever. Friendly strays who don’t mind staying inside. The age typically doesn’t matter, but usually the cats that were either cared for and socialized while still being strays or even cats that were left behind after being owned for some time, and learned to fend for themselves while remaining friendly to humans.

Now this doesn’t mean send me all your feral cats. Don’t send me any feral cats actually. Leave those alone as long as they are neutered or spayed and fed. They are happy out there. But here are three examples of cats we got within the last two weeks who are just so happy and grateful to be here, their immune systems are top-notch from being outside for so long and nothing really seems to phase them at all.

Velvet: cared for in an apartment complex parking lot by kind people who cared enough to get him help when he needed it.

Tom: a sweet boy who lived at a train station and was cared for by the employees for long enough for him to really trust humans.

Manny: was let outside with a bunch of other cats after the owner died and had been living outside, surviving on his own for a while. He is so happy to be here. He has been in every single cat bed and every single cat tree since he got here and seems so thankful.

Owner surrenders are hard. Cats that come directly from a home are difficult. They often crash due to sadness, and all of the emotions that come along with being removed from their home. Give me all the street cats 🤣🩷
