Today we celebrate Ruby and the beautiful chapter she’s beginning.
Ruby has officially retired and is off to live her very best life as a little girl’s first dog — a role we know she will fill with love, patience, and gentleness.

Ruby was more than just a momma dog. She was devoted, nurturing, and endlessly loving. She brought many beautiful babies into this world and cared for each one with such instinct and heart. Watching her be a mother was truly something special.

While it’s never easy to say goodbye, our hearts are full knowing she is stepping into a life filled with cuddles, adventures, and a little hand to hold onto her forever. Ruby has given us so much, and now it’s her turn to be spoiled and cherished every single day.

Thank you, Ruby, for everything.

Our handsome male, Percy, comes from an incredible lineage—boasting 24 Grand Champions in his pedigree! And joining him is our elegant and sweet girl, Priscilla Rose, who brings charm, intelligence, and the perfect poodle personality to our program.

‼️A RETIRED BREEDING DOG IS NOT A RESCUE STORY‼️
Retired breeding dogs from responsible breeders aren’t being “saved.” These dogs have been deeply loved and cared for their entire lives. They were chosen with purpose, raised with attention, and treated like family, not just breeding animals. Ethical breeders invest their hearts into these dogs: they know their personalities, their quirks, their favorite toys, and what comforts them. Many sleep in the breeder’s bed, get constant attention, and are doted on from day one. When a dog retires, it isn’t because they weren’t wanted. It’s because they’ve completed their role in the program, and the breeder wants them to enjoy the next chapter, one where they can soak up all the attention in a home of their own. Their move isn’t a rescue; it’s a loving transition into a new life where they get to be the center of someone’s world.

RESCUE DOGS, on the other hand, often come from shelters, the streets, or difficult situations WITH NO BREEDER TO FALL BACK ON… they truly need saving and a second chance.

Both breeders and rescues do wonderful, important work, but the situations are VERY different.

A retired breeder isn’t being saved, they’re being celebrated. They’re moving from a home where they were cherished to another home that will spoil them just as much. It’s not a rescue story; it’s a love story with a new chapter

🌟 The Dogs That Started It All 🌟

A mother and daughter… and the beginning of my entire journey.

These two girls are so much more than just dogs — they are my heart, my inspiration, and the reason Shetland Ridge Canines became what it is today. ❤️

From the moment they came into my life, they changed everything. Their loyalty, their gentle spirits, and their unconditional love sparked something in me that I never knew would grow into a lifelong passion.

What started as simply loving my dogs turned into a dream…

A dream of raising puppies with the same love, care, and devotion these two gave to me.

Every puppy, every family we meet, every wagging tail — all of it traces back to them.

A mother and daughter who taught me what true companionship looks like and showed me the joy that comes from sharing that love with others.

I owe my entire journey, my purpose, and my passion to these two beautiful souls.

They are the dogs that started it all — and the reason my heart beats for what I do. 🐾❤️
