If you want your dog to go potty no matter what’s happening outside, you have to practice that from the time you bring them home!

If it’s raining and I hear thunder in the distance (like in this video), I’m heading outside with my puppy as long as it’s safe. Same with snow, wet/dewey grass, cold, do it all!
But the same thing goes for adult dogs who may already not like some of these things. Don’t coddle and cater to them not liking the rain, make them go out in it! The more exposure they get, they may not like it still, but they’ll learn to go anyway.

The more you expose your dog to from a young age, the easier it’ll be for them to go to the bathroom no matter what’s going on outside. And that’s the end goal!

ROLL REVERSAL!
At the point I marked, the “chase” swapped from one dog to the other, so they’re both playing “catch me”.

Good, balanced play should mean both parties are actively engaging and enjoying what’s happening, it’s almost like a dance!
No tucked tails, ducking or shying away, hiding, or any kind of indicators that either one isn’t really enjoying the other’s play style. They both actually play super similarly, which is why they had such a ball together 😊

Play should be a healthy balance of push and pull from BOTH dogs. It’s not play if only one side is enjoying it!

Welcome to The Home Grown Dog family, Cocoa!✨

Little Cocoa here is a 6.5 month old Pumi (a herding breed from Hungary!) and she’s with me for 3 weeks to work on a few things.

This sweet little girl has a birth defect in one of her hind legs, so she can use it a bit for support and movement, but it’s more like a kickstand and isn’t a fully functional leg.
She was born with it, so she doesn’t know any different!

Just a beautiful reminder that dogs of ALL shapes, sizes, breeds, disabilities etc. deserve a well-trained life 🤍

So happy I get to work with this little wild child and her sweet owner ✨

Welcome to The Home Grown Dog family, Max!✨

Max is a 1.5 year old Wheaten Terrier and he’ll be here with me for 3 weeks to work on a few things. His sister Mango came through my training program back in April, her owners were so excited about their “problem child’s” progress (😄) that they decided they wanted to invest in Max’s future too.
So, so cool to me when I get to work with my clients a second time. 🥺

Maxy is definitely a much different dog than his sister;
