Our mission is to rescue homeless pets to give them a second chance at life by finding them homes.

Cindy Yee Kong, author of The Eyes of the Lion, found Grace Animal Rehabilitation Center Inc. under the pressing need of rescueing and re-homing overpopulated stray cats in her community. Her love for domesticated animals began when she was comforted by a rescue kitten in her trying time.

Meet Rosy and bB! Two girl dogs caught in the trap of having litter after litter because their owner couldn’t afford to spay them. Worse still, over the years, their puppies were given away free to anyone who’d take them, which added to the homeless pet population.

Their owner’s heart was in the right place – she wanted to stop the cycle of unwanted puppies -- but there was no one to help cover the costs. Then, she reached out to GARC Spay/Neuter Assistance Program. Thanks to generous donors like you, we were able to step in and spare Rosie and bB from having non-stop litters and help prevent future homelessness.

Now the owner is no longer the problem but part of the solution. Thank you for helping make that change for the good.

A special thank you and farewell to Sam, our SEO content writer who is going into her senior year as a Communications student!

Sam joined GARC because she believes that animal rehabilitation and welfare are worthy and noble endeavors. Through her year with the organization, she used her writing and communication skills to help share information that could educate pet owners, advocate for animal welfare, and further GARC’s mission.

What's up at the GARC this week? Oh the usual…

We’re helping cats and dogs get used to hanging out with humans to help them get ready for their forever homes
We’re training adopters in the skills they’ll need to help a new pet feel comfortable in a new home
We’re helping families spay and neuter their pets so they can keep them when moving into new apartments or condos

Did you know? In 2020, Oklahoma animal shelters took in 89,353 dogs and cats. Of those, 11,560 animals were euthanized. In fact, Oklahoma came in eighth in state-by-state rankings of unnecessary pet shelter deaths!

In 2017 GARC founder Cindy Yee Kong opened the Grace Animal Rehab Center to address this exact problem.

If saving the lives of animals who without your help may never experience the warmth of love and affection - or worse may not get a chance to live a full life at all - is a cause that excites you then we need your help.

Whether it's just for a few weeks during your school break, or to build real skills that could help you in your career path your help is welcome and needed.
