Hey friends 🤍

We’re excited to launch something new that helps support the dogs in our program and highlights local businesses in our community.

Business Spotlight + Raffle Program.
Each week, we’ll feature one local business across our Facebook & Instagram pages with dedicated posts, story features, and community shoutouts. At the end of the week, we’ll host a raffle using a donated item or service.

We’re currently looking for a few local business owners in our community who would love:
✨ Exposure to a highly engaged local audience
✨ Support from dog-loving families and adopters
✨ A way to give back while growing visibility

We’re looking for donated items or services ($100–$400 value), and all donations are tax deductible (501(c)(3)).

If you’re a business owner in our community—or know one who would love this kind of visibility—please comment below or text us at 801-372-9140

And if you just want to support the dogs directly, donations are always appreciated here:

🐾 Meet Jynx 🐾

Due to a recent divorce, Jynx is once again looking for a family to call his own. This handsome German Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix is hoping his next home will be his forever one.

Jynx is the definition of a lovable goofball. He's between 1.5-3 years old, and his current family describes him as an affectionate, playful, active boy who always knows how to make people smile. Whether he's making you laugh with his derpy antics or showering you with affection, life is never boring with Jynx around.

His favorite things? Treats, running, playing, and making his person proud. He is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and genuinely enjoys working alongside his humans.

Like many young, intelligent dogs, Jynx is still a bit of a toddler at heart. He thrives with structure, consistency, and clear boundaries. Give him an inch, and he'll happily take a mile—but that's part of his charm! The good news is that he's a quick learner who loves training and is always ready to learn something new. He's already been through a board and train and is a rockstar.

This boy is good with other dogs, cats, and he is great with kids.

Jynx is looking for an active home that will continue to provide the guidance, exercise, and mental stimulation he craves. In return, you'll get a loyal, loving companion who will keep you smiling every day.

Could Jynx be the missing piece of your family? ❤️

Longer post today, so buckle up!

Imagine a child entering 7th grade who has been isolated their entire life. They've never learned to read or write, never played sports, joined a club, ridden a bike, or built friendships with kids their own age. They have a kindergarten skill set.

We would expect them to struggle. It's hard to imagine they wouldn't be anxious, insecure, frustrated, overwhelmed, and behind socially and academically.

Imagine the solution is simply medication.

Not tutoring, therapy, an IEP, a support teacher, a school equipped to help them catch up. Just medication.

Would it help them feel better? Would it teach them how to read, build confidence, develop social skills, or learn emotional regulation?

One thing rescue has taught us is that very few dogs entering shelters or rescues have ever been given a real education. They've never been taught how to regulate themselves, cope with stress, navigate the world we expect them to live in, or build the confidence needed to handle mistakes and life's challenges.
They're not broken, or dogs who have clinical signs of any type of psychiatric disorder.

They're simply undereducated, overwhelmed, and trying to survive situations they were never prepared for.

Medication can be a valuable tool. The best explanation is that it acts like a volume k**b. For some dogs, that volume is turned up so high that learning becomes impossible, and medication can help turn it down. Turning down the volume doesn't teach the lesson, and we don't ever refer out until we've made *significant* effort to build the dog up.

Our concern is making sure we've given the dog every opportunity to learn before assuming chemistry is the primary answer.

Max is a great example of this. He came to us on both Prozac and Trazodone.

Here, he's shown us that he's not anxious, has excellent impulse control, and is fully capable of regulating his emotions and behavior.

Max wasn't a dog who needed the volume turned down. He was a dog who needed an education. He came to us with a 2nd-grade education and is leaving with a high-school diploma, and he is the absolute best boy we've ever met!

🐾 TODAY WAS A BIG DAY AT THE VET 🐾

Today, Ditzy received her spay and dental procedure, and Charlotte also had her dental completed.

In the last three weeks, we've also covered vaccines, microchips, examinations, medications, and health certificates for dogs in our care.

The reality of rescue is that these expenses happen before adoption fees ever come in. When a dog needs medical care, we schedule the appointment, approve the treatment, and trust that our community will help us make it possible.

Right now, we're trying to raise $850 to help us catch up on recent veterinary expenses.

If you'd like to help, you can sponsor part of a specific dog's care:
🐾 Ditzy – Spay & Dental ($775)
🐾 Charlotte – Dental & Vaccines ($335)
🐾 Porsha – Medical Care, Health Certificate & Microchip ($240)
🐾 Gouda – Exam & Microchip ($105)

You don't have to cover an entire procedure.
💙 $10 helps. 💙 $25 helps. 💙 $45 covers a microchip. 💙 $60 covers an examination.

💙 Every donation helps us continue saying "yes" when a dog needs care.

If you'd like your donation applied toward a specific dog, simply leave their name in the donation notes.

Every success story you see from our rescue starts with veterinary care, training, and a community willing to stand behind these dogs when they need it most.

Thank you for being part of our Ohana ❤️

1 year ago, Layla was still Karma.

Karma was taken to a veterinary hospital to be euthanized because her previous owners didn’t understand her. She wasn’t dangerous. She wasn’t hopeless. She was an under-socialized, overstimulated young dog who needed structure, guidance, and someone willing to actually help her.

So we pulled her.

With the help of our incredible community, we were able to:
• Cover her cherry eye surgery
• Get her fully vetted & spayed
• Put over 6 weeks of training and rehabilitation into her
• Help her learn how to exist calmly and successfully in the world

And then she found the absolute best family imaginable. ❤️

Now Karma is Layla — spoiled, loved, thriving, and celebrating ONE YEAR in her forever home.

The reality is, a lot of our dogs have stories similar to Layla’s.

Dogs that are misunderstood, that needed medical care, dogs that needed training, and dogs that just needed someone to believe they were worth the effort.

It’s only possible because of community support.

We wanted to give a huge thank you to Layla's mom Mindy Bragafor putting together a giveaway to celebrate Layla and help support rescue dogs like her. 🐾

If you’d like to enter the giveaway, head over to her page for all of the details. ❤️

If you’d simply like to support the dogs in our care directly, you can send us a Venmo (business account)

Thank you for helping us continue giving dogs like Karma the opportunity to become someone’s Layla. 🖤

05/27/2026

We wanted to give everyone a little rescue update, and don’t worry, this is not a dramatic “we’re disappearing forever” post. The dream is still very much alive over here.

From the beginning, our goal has always been bigger than just saving dogs in the moment. We’ve wanted to build a rescue that is stable, sustainable, well run, and capable of truly changing lives for a very long time to come.

However, part of building something that lasts means knowing when it’s time to slow down, regroup, and strengthen the foundation.
Right now, we currently have 8 dogs in our program who NEED placement before we can responsibly take on additional intakes. Between foster instability and the general chaos that comes with rescue, we’ve ended up personally housing more dogs than our own setup was ever designed for (which our resident dogs definitely have opinions about).

So for now, we are temporarily pausing new intakes while we focus on:
• Supporting and training foster families properly
• Creating stronger systems behind the scenes
• Getting our current dogs placed into amazing homes
• Building this rescue the right way

This is us trying to build something sustainable enough to keep helping dogs for years to come.

We are still happy to:
• Crosspost dogs needing placement
• Help evaluate shelter dogs for potential adopters in Utah
• Support adopters and fosters however we realistically can
• Continue advocating for dogs who need a voice

We know rescue has been hard for everyone lately. Donations everywhere have slowed, fostering has become more difficult, and the need just keeps growing, but we still believe deeply in what we’re building here.

Every single time we’ve needed help, this community has shown up in one way or another.

So if you want to help us keep this dream alive, here’s how:
• Foster
• Volunteer
• Share our dogs/posts everywhere
• Donate if you’re able
• Or share this post with your rich dog-loving uncle who “has been thinking about philanthropy lately”

Seriously though, every share, every foster, every volunteer hour, every donation, every kind comment, and every adopter has helped us get this far.

Thank you 💜

We’re good at dogs. We need someone good at social media.

The old folks running our rescue are finally admitting we need help creating more engaging content, and we’re looking for people who:

A) Love dogs and want to spend a few days each week with our foster families, taking dogs on outings, joining hikes, or helping us capture content at the rescue.

B) Want to make a difference.
We’re built differently. We don’t do “froo froo” content just for views. Everything we do centers around education, advocacy, responsible ownership, behavior, and rescue work. We KNOW there’s a way to bridge the gap between engaging content and ethical education, we just need someone who understands the tech/social media side to help us put it all together.

C) Actually enjoys social media.
We’ll be honest… it’s not our favorite thing. But it’s necessary if we want these dogs seen and supported, so we’d love to add someone to the team who genuinely enjoys creating content and helping good dogs reach the right people.

D) Takes this seriously.
We work with amazing dogs, but we also work hard to maintain public safety, proper handling, and community standards. If you’re out with our dogs, we expect professionalism, good judgment, and respect for the amount of work that goes into them.

📌 Weekly time commitment: approximately 5–10 volunteer hours per week. We’re also happy to sign off on community service hours if needed.

If this sounds like your thing, reach out. We’d love to talk.

One of the most interesting conversations we’ve had recently was:

“How can a rescue support ethical breeders when shelters are overflowing?”

Honestly? Fair question.

After a decade of being involved in behavior work, we’ve seen the differences, and the end results between ethical breeders and people simply producing puppies, better known as Backyard Breeders.

Ethical breeders:
• Health test and title their dogs
• Thoroughly vet homes
• Require return contracts
• Microchip puppies before they leave
• Provide lifelong support
• Take their dogs back if needed

Which means their dogs don't end up in shelters, and when they do, they move mountains to get them back to safety of their care.

Most of the dogs we see entering rescue were not ethically bred. They were impulse purchases from backyard breeders, accidental litters, online ads, or people breeding without education, structure, or accountability. That’s the difference.

Supporting ethical breeding and supporting rescue are not opposites. Both should prioritize stable temperaments, responsible ownership, and keeping dogs OUT of the shelter system in the first place.

The real problem has never been responsibly bred dogs. It’s always been irresponsible breeding paired with unprepared ownership.

Adopt or Shop, but either way, do it responsibly.

We wanted to give a little reminder that those sweet little Christmas puppies… are officially turning into teenagers. 🎄➡️🦖

A quick guide to puppy development stages:
• 7–11 Weeks: Perfect little angel baby

• 12–16 Weeks: Curious little duckling

• 4–6 Months: Pr***en phase: Discovering weaponized incompetence

• 6–18 Months (sometimes longer): Puberty
And no, spaying/neutering does not skip this stage. Your puppy is still going through a huge neurological and developmental period where they suddenly act like you’ve never taught them a single thing in their life, and they constantly give you the bird.

• Around 24 Months: The adult dog finally starts emerging… depending on how much structure, consistency, and follow-through happened during puppyhood.

This stage is NORMAL.
Frustrating? Absolutely. But normal.

As a reminder, if your puppy’s adoption included Advanced Training, we are currently booking into late June/July for those returns.

If you chose a Base Adoption and are realizing adolescence hit like a freight train, you’re always welcome to upgrade later. The upgrade is an additional $450 and includes the extra 2–4 weeks of Board & Train plus equipment.
