β οΈ WARNING: Flip-flops and horses do NOT mix! π΄π©΄
It only takes one misplaced hoof to cause a serious foot injury. Horses are powerful animals, and even the calmest, kindest horse can step sideways, spook, shift weight, or accidentally land on your foot without warning.
Flip-flops offer almost no protection. They leave your toes exposed, slip easily, and give you very little grip around yards, stables, gateways, wash bays, trailers, and uneven ground. What feels like a quick, casual walk to the field can turn into a painful accident in seconds.
When handling horses, always choose sturdy, closed-toe footwear β ideally boots with a firm sole and good grip. Proper footwear helps protect your feet, keeps you more stable, and reduces the chance of slipping or getting caught out if your horse moves suddenly.
This is not about judging anyoneβs outfit. It is about awareness, prevention, and keeping riders, handlers, volunteers, and visitors safe around horses. A simple footwear choice can make a huge difference.
