✨ Happy Adoption Day, Hayzel! ✨
(celebrated this past Sunday)

Hayzel came to DRU in May after a major life change for her family and a shift in their housing situation. They made the difficult decision to surrender her, knowing she needed the space and lifestyle where she could stay the happy, active girl she is.

And now… Hayzel has found exactly that — and so much more. ❤️

Hayzel has been adopted by Jim and David, longtime Doberman owners and two‑time DRU adopters! After losing their beloved DRU Sheba, they knew they wanted to open their hearts and home to another Doberman in need. We’re always grateful when adopters return to help another dog find their forever.

Hayzel is going to thrive with her new family. They’ll be home with her to help ease her anxiety, and they’re already preparing a homemade diet to keep her feeling her best. She’s stepping into a life filled with comfort, companionship, and people who truly understand her.

We couldn’t have asked for a better match for this sweet girl. Her life has changed in the best possible way.

Happy life, Hayzel — you’re right where you belong. 🐾❤️

We currently have 45 Dobermans in our care, and keeping all of those hungry bellies full and those beautiful boys and girls healthy is a BIG job! 🐾

We’re just days away from our DRU Reunion Picnic on September 12th from 12–4 PM at the Middlesex County 4-H Grounds in Westford, MA! 💙

⭐ AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN (CGC) TESTING ⭐

We’re also excited to offer AKC Canine Good Citizen testing during the picnic! If you’ve been working on your dog’s manners and obedience, this is a great opportunity to put those skills to the test.

The CGC test evaluates 10 important skills, including:
🐕 Accepting a friendly stranger
🐕 Sitting politely for petting
🐕 Appearance and grooming
🐕 Walking on a loose leash
🐕 Walking through a crowd
🐕 Sit, down & stay
🐕 Coming when called
🐕 Reaction to other dogs
🐕 Reaction to distractions
🐕 Supervised separation

🏆 Want the official CGC title? You can also register the achievement with the AKC and add “CGC” after your dog’s name!

There’s still time to sign up! Testing will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until the last registered dog has completed their test. So don’t worry if you’re not first in line—we’ll keep going until everyone who signed up has had their turn! 🐾

Happy Adoption Day, Princess! 🐾❤️

Princess came to DRU in July when her family lost their job and was facing the possibility of losing their housing. They made the difficult decision to surrender her, hoping she would have the chance to find a safe and loving future.

We knew when she came in she wouldn’t be here long - she was ready to find a family who could give her the time, guidance, and love she needed.

That family turned out to be Peter and Tanya! Longtime DRU adopters, they recently lost their precious DRU girl, Lexi. When they were ready to open their hearts and home to another Doberman in need, they came for a meet and greet with several dogs – well Princess was the one!

Princess is now heading home with experienced Doberman owners, where she’ll get to go to work every day with her new dad and enjoy life to the fullest!

A huge thank-you to Peter and Tanya for once again giving a Doberman in need such a wonderful home. Congratulations to all of you—we couldn’t be happier for Princess and her new family! ❤️🐾
