Welcome to the team, Dr. Melissa Sparks! 🩺✨

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Sparks will be joining our Emergency Department this August!

See her bio below! 👇🐾

“Dr. Sparks grew up in rural Northern California and was a science nerd from an early age. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and a minor in Physics from UC Santa Cruz, before going on to receive her veterinary degree from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She has spent most of her career in general and specialty emergency medicine, with additional surgical experience gained through high-volume spay-neuter practice.

Dr. Sparks is both Fear Free and Low-Stress Handling Certified. She is passionate about reducing fear, anxiety and stress for all pets receiving care. Her special interests are critical care, anesthesia, multimodal analgesia, endocrine diseases, and spectrum of care.

Outside the hospital, she can be found cheering on the Golden State Valkyries with her wife, swing dancing, attending book club, and singing in a local choir.”
