We have been boarding bunnies since 2016 and currently own one rescued indoor house rabbit of our own and three indoor house cats. We also occasionally foster for local rabbit rescues such as The Rabbit Haven and Contra Costa Rabbit Rescue. ft of space, and we can accommodate multiple rabbits and may be able to provide more complex medical care if requested. We also have select Busy Bunny rabbit toys and freshly dried local willow wreaths on sale for local pickup or your boarding stay.

Lop rabbits are incredibly cute, but it is important to know they come with some extra medical needs. Because of the way their ears hang, their ear canals are quite narrow, which traps earwax and limits airflow. This buildup can unfortunately lead to frequent ear infections or abscesses, so keep a close eye on your floppy-eared friends!

Make sure your rabbit-experienced vet does a deep-dive ear check with an otoscope at every visit. Since rabbits are so good at hiding when they feel unwell, we can help them out by keeping an eye on things at home. If you notice any extra head shaking, scratching, head tilt, or if their ear bases feel warm and puffy, a quick trip to the vet can make all the difference to protect their hearing.

When boarding rabbits, consistent hay consumption and regular f***l output are the most reliable indicators of health. Decreased appetite and p**p amounts are an early sign of illness in rabbits, and it is vital that your chosen caretaker is experienced with rabbits and prepared to respond!

At SS Bunny Boarding, if we find that rabbits are acting off with their appetite, especially with hay, we will notify their guardian(s) and increase portions of (approved) pellets and favorite vegetables as a temporary measure. If natural interest in food does not improve, we will assist feed with recovery food to keep the gut moving, provided no blockage is suspected. Often, a few assist feedings is sufficient to jump-start their normal appetite. However, if true GI stasis is suspected, we will transition immediately to emergency veterinary care.

When choosing a service provider for your pets, please make sure that they have a comprehensive emergency plan that includes first aid, transport, and emergency veterinary clinics!

Holiday boarding is about to be in full swing in our household!

As a heads up, our rates will be increasing for reservations starting on or after January 1, 2026. Additionally, we are getting ready to launch our website for local drop-in services for indoor rabbits for those that prefer to keep their rabbits at home or are unable to board with us due to lack of space. All of this information will be updated on our website!

This bun was quite the mischievous client - jumped out of her pen twice to end up in 48" jail, then chewed through her soft carrier within 10 minutes while we were trying to clean her pen. We do recommend hard plastic carriers for rabbits for this reason!
