If you want 2 smile you're in the right place. DOGtor Yakoo Practices for Life

Hi. You can call me DOGtorYakoo. Even though I was born deaf and blind, I’m good at “hearing” and “seeing” that world that my family and I live in. I love having the chance to help other humans and dogs appreciate deafblind dogs like me, who can be very special pets. Erick and Allan, my dads, adopted me at a very you

ng age (4 months). They found me online at a rescue program in Florida and traveled from San Francisco to see if I might like them. It turned out that I did - they’re really fun but make me do a lot of homework! - and we’ve become part of a family that loves being together and exploring the big world. We’re already drove a car from one coast to the other and back! Erick and Allan jumped right in to teach me all kinds of things. I could tell that they thought that while I needed to be helped, I didn’t need to be treated like a baby because I can’t see or hear. I love interacting with all the toys and stuff in our house, and I always want to know more. I’m already familiar with about 25 important words and commands. Erick uses his hands to rub and tap me in this way and that way, directing me to hunt for treats, find toys, go outside, jump into a car and go to the bathroom before bedtime. Allan tries but isn’t as good about what he’s trying to tell me. I’ve already learned how to be aware of a lot of what is going on around me. Deafblind humans use PROtactile languages to understand what’s going on around them. I’m helping Erick create a PAWtactile language for humans and dogs, especially deafblind ones who need more guidance. Learning is something I have to do all the time. Everyday. But it’s fun and important. I’m just one year old or so but have already helped in many ways. SOCIAL MEDIA STAR: I have channels on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. It seems that thousands of people see my stories almost every day, which is pretty cool. People know me as or can see me on my website, DogtorYakoo.com, which is pretty cool too. SURFING ENVIRONMENTAL DOG:I love to play in the ocean and even in water fountains. I’m learning to surf with other dogs. I’m even helping clean up trash and keep the beaches safe for dogs to play. SCHOOL KID: Pretty soon I will be going to children’s programs and special schools where deafblind kids go. They want to see how happy I am and Erick wants to see if I can inspire them to do tricks and share their stories too. DOG PARKS AND DOG BARS: My recent stories show me learning to enjoy dog parks, where I make dog friends. I really like going to Dog Bars where Erick and Allan can relax as I play. BRAND AMBASSADOR: I’ve become a business promoter on Instagram. This means the companies that send me food, toys, and learning games can promote their products with my videos. Seems like I get thousands or millions of people who watch me learn and have fun. GEOBEATS AND CUDDLE BUDDIES: Two online sites, GeoBeat and Cuddle Buddies, made stories about my life and what I’m learning. You can see these videos on my YouTube channel and on my website. People get happy enough to cry watching these, which Erick says is a good thing. CALANDER BOY: I was just told recently that I have been selected to be a featured dog in a 2023 Fantastic Dogs calendar. I guess that means another whole year of learning PAWtactile stuff!

There is nothing I won’t do for this girl. 😭❤️

After a rough night and an exhausting day of X-rays and labs at the vet, the medicine is finally kicking in.

Nuka is fighting so hard to stay awake right now, but her body is finally getting the peaceful rest it needs to heal. 🥺💊😴

It really is true—as paw parents, we would risk it all and do absolutely anything just to keep our babies safe and by our side.

They give us unconditional loyalty, and we give them our whole heart in return. 🐾✨

Drop a 👇 if you would do anything for your fur baby! Let’s fill the comments with love for Nuka.

DON’T SCROLL! 🛑 If you think dogs don’t understand loyalty, you need to see this.

My sweet girl Nuka has been down bad all night with a nasty UTI. 🤒 Total exhaustion, bleeding, and feeling completely disoriented. 💔
BUT LOOK AT HER. 🥹 Even when she is at her absolute lowest, hurting, and confused... I asked her for a high-five, and she still delivered. 🐾⚡️ That is pure, unconditional love right there.

We just left the Vet office with her meds, and the healing starts NOW! 🔥

Drop a ❤️ to tell Nuka she’s the best girl ever! 👇

Spent the whole night playing nurse to my sweet girl, Nuka. 🐾💔

She kept me up all night goteando/leaking and straining to go to the bathroom.

We think it’s a UTI, but even though she’s dealing with so much discomfort, she was still giving me the absolute most loving kisses this morning.

Heading into the vet now to get her checked out and get her some relief.

Send Nuka some love today! ✨❤️

How to trick your lovebird into “drawing” (and my plan to make it real). 🦜🤫

Here is the exact breakdown of how Mango became a “fine artist” while Yakoo and Nuka slept through the whole masterclass:

1️⃣ The Secret: Use a remote control to scratch the back of the sofa where she can’t see it.
2️⃣ The Cue: Give the command and let her natural instinct to imitate take over.
3️⃣ The Next Step: My actual goal is to drop a piece of paper with a bird-safe substance next time so she’ll actually be drawing! 🎨

Memorial Day with Yakoo and Nuka 🇺🇸🐾

Dogs have stood beside humans through history, including in times of war, service, and rescue.

Today Yakoo and Nuka join in remembering the people and service dogs who gave everything🩵🤍🩵

Most people use their voice to communicate with their dog.

Nuka can’t hear me.

So at the beach, we use movement, touch, vibration, and body language instead. 🐾🌊

In this moment, I used my feet to tell her to start digging in the sand…

and she understood immediately.

Dogs adapt beautifully when we stop expecting communication to look only one way.
