Audience Award for Best Feature Film at CritterFest goes to… 🐾🏆

This award is not just for us, but for everyone who came out to support in-person and online. One thing we never take for granted as indie filmmakers is those of you who go out of your way to watch, support, or tell a friend about a film you saw and liked. You all have been so supportive and we truly couldn’t do it without you.

Thank you to San Francisco IndieFest for hosting this event and 4 Star Theatre for being a great venue with a fantastic $1 vinyl selection!

“Better Call Babs is a day in the life of Babs. It’s pretty unfiltered, raw, unadulterated…It is full of passion, and hope, and emotion and fear.”

Babs Fry breaks down what “Better Call Babs” is all about in the press line at DWF:LA ‘26.

Babs said it better than we could…maybe we should have her re-write our logline?

“There’s a lot about my life, my history and what I do that I think crosses a lot of barriers…”

Babs Fry speaks with Frankie Campisano on bringing her story to film festival audiences during the press line at DWF:LA ‘26.

“…recovery is another one of those things that just influences everyone universally. And while that wasn’t our intention, that message came across almost as thoroughly through this film as the animal rescue piece.”

“What you did was innocent, but for a lot of animals it could have been deadly…”

During the Q&A for Better Call Babs at DWF:LA ‘26, Babs Fry shared valuable insight on what to do, but more importantly, what NOT to do when you see an animal stranded in a busy street.

“Our instinct is to keep them from getting hit, but now we’ve become the bigger danger than the car and rather than paying attention to traffic, they’re avoiding the people predators…”

“Stop, be passive, and do nothing. Then, let the animal dictate the next steps, because if the animal stops, then you start negotiating. If the animal is still moving, you’re not hitting the accelerator.”

09/01/2026

“Every case is very specific and different. But if you connect people with resources, not only do they get tools, they get hope…”

Babs Fry speaks on the power of objectivity in the face of hopelessness during the Q&A for Better Call Babs at DWF:LA ‘26.
