Halloween at The inFURmary is… not subtle. 🎃💀

We may have gone just a little overboard this year, and we’re not showing you the whole thing yet. 👀

For now, enjoy a few close-up sneak peeks from around the hospital. Some are creepy. Some are just fun. And at least one may require spending far too much time in a certain dungeon to recognize. 😏

The full Halloween takeover is coming soon.

🎃 Any guesses what you’re looking at?

We met sweet Quincy recently for some skin issues and a dental exam, but right away we could tell something else wasn’t quite right. He was stiff and sore, and his front feet were puffy and uncomfortable.

After some x-rays and bloodwork, we diagnosed Quincy with a rare condition called erosive immune-mediated polyarthritis (AKA canine rheumatoid arthritis.). His body is attacking his joints, causing destruction of the bones in his feet. The skin infection on his front legs is likely secondary to licking from the underlying discomfort.

While we can’t fix the damage that was already done, we are hoping to stop it from getting any worse. Quincy is in for a long road, but he’s got a dedicated owner and we’ve got a plan to get him feeling better!

Please keep an eye out for our lovely patient Griffin. He escaped from his house while his mom is out of town and we are all hoping for his safe return. He got out on Menkar Rd in Mira Mesa.

Griffin is lovely but he is very skittish. If you see him please let us know!

Max is a nearly 11yr old Golden Retriever. He’s been struggling with severe arthritis in his elbows, knees and hocks. To top it off, he also has compression of his spine, causing weakness in his hind legs, which meant he had to shift more load onto his painful elbows.

A month ago, we treated all 6 joints with Arthramid - Arthritis treatment for dogs, adding just a touch of steroid for his elbows. One month later, he is a much more comfortable boy.

Milo here is relaxing with his pre-meds and a red light before his dental.

Did you know dogs don’t see the color red? To them, red appears like a dark gray or brown. Turning on the red light is our Wellkennels helps our patients stay calm and relaxed.
