๐ฅ Owner Surrender
๐ MAJOR is a highly fearful, under-socialized dog struggling significantly in the shelter environment. Owner reports he has not been exposed to new people or other dogs and is reactive in unfamiliar situations. Shelter notes describe a dog who is consistently anxious, trembling, and avoidant, but who will engage briefly with high-value treats and shows moments of trust with handlers.
He requires patience, structure, and a calm environment. In kennel and yard settings, he remains highly stressed and reactive when overwhelmed, indicating he is not coping well in the shelter setting.

Continuing to work with dog -
Dog is on opposite side of kennel upon approach and is fearful by remaining in position with a tense and trembling body, wide eyes, pinned ears and a tucked docked tail as I enter kennel and sit. He is interested in high value treats offered to him where he takes treats gently by hand. He is not interested in further interaction by remaining on opposite side of kennel with same body language. Upon re-approach on same side of kennel, he is fearful by retreating away from me with a tense and trembling body, wide eyes, pinned ears and a tucked docked tail. He is interested in continued high value treats offered by hand and allows me
to pet him where he flinches with same body language. He is easy to leash where he walks slowly out of kennel and then
retreats back into kennel. He is easy to pick up and carry outside where he is initially stressed and is hyper vigilant, scanning surroundings quickly with a tense, trembling body, wide eyes, pinned ears and a tucked docked tail. He allows volunteer handler to pet him where he avoids eye contact and fidgets between volunteer handler and I with same body language. He is interested to sniff in grass and pulls on leash where he is seemingly house trained. He is easy to walk back to kennel and allows me to remove leash easily. Behavior due to under-socialization and environment.

Dog displays sociability with handler by coming over to greet with a tense body, wide eyes and a tucked docked tail and is easy to leash and walk outside where he urinates/defecates. He is stressed entering yard by walking in slowly and retreating away from approaching dogs with a tense body, wide eyes, pinned ears and a tucked docked tail. He communicates for space as multiple dogs follow him in yard by growling with a tense body, wide eyes, pinned ears and a tucked docked tail. As dogs disrespect his communications, he escalates behaviors by growling barking and snapping at dogs while quickly retreating away from them and pacing in yard with a tense body, wide eyes, pinned ears and a tucked docked tail. He is easy to remove from yard and is not initially interested in returning to building. He is walked around campus grounds for a few minutes where he is interested to sniff in grass and is easy to return to kennel.
