Both Board & Train and Day Training can be effective—but they’re very different approaches.

Board & Train typically means your dog leaves your home and trains in a different environment.

With Day Training, training happens in your home—so your puppy stays in the environment they’re learning to navigate every day.

That means we can:
• build skills in real-life situations
• support your routine from the beginning
• and coach you through the process

You’re not left out of the training—you’re part of it, with guidance on how to maintain what your dog is learning.

Because behavior isn’t just about what your dog learns—it’s about how it carries over into everyday life.

If you’re trying to decide what’s right for your dog, we can help you figure that out.

When it’s too hot for long walks, your dog still needs an outlet.

But it doesn’t have to be miles.

Enrichment, sniffing, and short, intentional activities can meet your dog’s needs—without risking overheating.

Try this instead:
• scatter feeding meals in the yard or inside
• short sniff walks in shaded areas
• frozen food toys or lick mats
• simple search games (hide treats or toys)
• brief training sessions with lots of breaks

Exercise isn’t just physical.

Save this for the next hot day—and share it with another dog owner who might need it.

Dogs don’t automatically feel comfortable at the vet.

They learn how to feel through experience.

Handling, unfamiliar environments, and restraint are all things dogs need time to process—and without the right support, those visits can quickly become stressful.

That stress doesn’t just show up at the vet.
It can affect how your dog responds to handling, new places, and unfamiliar people in general.

Good news ‒ this is something you can influence early.

In Part 2, we’ll walk through what actually helps dogs feel more comfortable at the vet—before stress becomes the pattern.

You turned your head for one second. Now your Allbirds are a chew toy and there's a puddle on your just-cleaned floor.

You did what any reasonable person does — asked a friend, scrolled social media, maybe even asked AI. And got a chorus of opinions: swat his nose, rub his face in it, don't let him dominate you.

Here's the truth: none of that works. Because behavior isn't about dominance. It's about emotions and learning.

When your puppy understands the world feels safe and his needs are met, behavior changes — not because you forced it, but because you understand how to help him live happily in our human world.

LOMA's puppy programs are built on real science, not internet folklore. Our clients go from frustrated and hopeless to confident and clear — with a plan that actually works.

Find out how LOMA's puppy training experts can give you relief from puppy chaos.

Introducing a puppy and a cat isn’t something to rush.

What might look like curiosity can quickly turn into stress—for both animals.

A better approach is slow, structured, and intentional.

Start here:
• keep them separated at first (use gates, pens, or distance)
• let them observe each other safely before interacting
• reward calm behavior around each other
• give your cat escape routes and safe spaces
• keep early interactions short and low-pressure

Rushing introductions can create tension that’s hard to undo.

Taking your time helps both animals feel safe—and sets the foundation for a better relationship long-term.

Save this if you’re living in a multi-pet home.

"Stopping the barking" wasn’t the goal.
Helping Sadie feel calmer, more fulfilled, and better understood was.
So we paused stressful walks, added work-to-eat meals, used food scatter enrichment, and taught her clearer communication skills.
The result?
Less frustration.
More choice.
Better coping skills.
Because anxious dogs don’t always need “more exercise.”
Sometimes they need the right kind of mental stimulation, predictability, and support.

"I've created a monster. She barks constantly for attention and I have to lock her in the bedroom during Zoom calls."

That's what Cindy told us about Sadie—a 7-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier whose demand barking had taken over the household.

Here's how we discovered the real problem wasn't "bad behavior"—it was unmet needs. Follow for part 2!
