🎉 HAPPY ADOPTION FLUFFBALL! 🎉

The little dog who once flinched at every touch has found his family — all the way in New Mexico. ❤️

This is one of those happy endings that means a little extra. Fluffball was found wandering a neighborhood, and shockingly, no one ever came looking for him. Once he was safe with us, we quickly realized just how scared he was.

He was terrified of being touched. He wouldn’t let us pet him, and any quick movement made him flinch like he was afraid he was going to be hit. We’ll never know exactly what happened in his past, but someone had taught this sweet little dog that hands weren’t always safe.

So we gave him time.

We were patient, let him set the pace and tried to show him that he didn’t have to be afraid anymore. He made progress, but it was slow. He had several meet & greets, and each time, the family ultimately decided not to move forward.

Then his people found him… all the way from New Mexico. ❤️

They knew exactly what they were signing up for. They knew Fluffball might not let them touch him. They knew earning his trust could take weeks, months, or longer. And they were willing to give him whatever time he needed.

Because they were so far away, a family member came to meet him first. After meeting Fluffball, she called them and said:

“You have to come get this dog.” 🥹

And they did.

Fluffball packed his bags and headed to New Mexico, and just look at him now. 😭❤️

He wants to be near his family. He cozies up beside them. He sleeps with them. And the little dog who once wouldn’t let us touch him is now allowing pets while hanging out with his people on the couch.

That last part might seem small.

For Fluffball, it’s HUGE.

He didn’t need someone to expect him to change overnight. He needed someone willing to love him exactly where he was and patiently show him that he was safe.

And somehow, those people found him from hundreds of miles away.

You were worth every bit of the wait, sweet boy. Now go enjoy your new life in New Mexico — and all those pets you’re finally learning can feel pretty darn good. 🥹🐾

Look at this adorable face! 🥹 Who could resist that little lip curl?! 😂

Caster Troy is the sweetest, most gentle boy, and he deserves so much more than life at the rescue.

He has everything he needs — an insulated, air-conditioned dog house in our single-dog unit, a huge 32x16 yard, his own pool, and he even enjoys getting sprayed with the hose. 💦

But what he doesn’t have is a person.

Caster spends a lot of his days alone, and he’s lonely and bored. When he does get some one-on-one attention, he’s incredibly calm, gentle and loving. He’s just happy to have someone there with him. ❤️

Caster is dog-reactive on leash, so we’re looking for an only-dog home for him. Interestingly, before coming to us, he actually lived alongside other stray dogs outside a warehouse. We rescued him from there during a freeze when temperatures dropped into the 20s.

He survived being a stray. Now he’s safe and comfortable — but safe isn’t the same as having a home.

Caster Troy deserves someone who will love him, spend time with him, let him inside on the couch and give that adorable speckled face all the scratches it’s been missing. 🥹

⛈️ Well… last night’s storm did a number on us.

First, the good news: ALL of our dogs are safe. ❤️ None of our fencing came down, we only briefly lost power, and everyone has their AC running today and is doing just fine.

Our newest improvement project, however… did not survive. 😭

We’ve been slowly purchasing supplies and paying a handyman to make improvements throughout the rescue—expanding yards, replacing dog doors, cleaning AC units, making repairs and, most recently, adding more shade to one of our puppy houses.

We already had a 12x20 sunshade over this yard, but the posts needed to be redone. We replaced and reinforced them, poured new concrete, added two more 4x4s and installed a second sunshade so there would be no gap between the two as the sun moved throughout the day. The goal was to keep the dogs’ play area and pool water shaded during this Texas heat. ☀️🐶💦

We finished it yesterday at 5:30 PM.

A few hours later… Mother Nature apparently decided she hated it. 🫠

The winds completely destroyed both shades. One of the new 4x4s literally snapped off at the base, another is leaning, and the yard we finally had completely shaded yesterday is now completely exposed.

So… back to square one. 😩

It’s incredibly discouraging to see something we’ve spent so much time and money working toward destroyed hours after we finished it, but we also know how lucky we were.

The dogs are safe. The fences held. Their buildings are intact. Their ACs are running. That’s what matters most. ❤️

Now we just need to get their shade back.

If anyone would like to help us replace what was lost and rebuild this area, we would be incredibly grateful. Maintaining and improving the spaces where our dogs live is a huge part of keeping them safe and comfortable while they wait for their forever homes.

💙 BRUNO IS LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME… AGAIN.

Unfortunately, Bruno’s recent placement didn’t work out — through absolutely no fault of his own. The resident dog just wasn’t able to adjust to having Bruno in the home.

And Bruno? He handled the entire situation like the very good boy he is. 🥹 He was completely non-reactive and never caused an issue.

Bruno is seriously such an easy, sweet dog. ❤️

This boy deserves for the next home to be THE home. We really need to find Bruno his person — someone who will love having this sweet, goofy shadow following them through life. 💙

💕 Sweet little Blanche is looking for a soft place to land. 💕

Several years ago, Blanche came to us after she and several other dogs were dumped together in a neighborhood. We rescued them, and Blanche eventually found a family of her own.

Unfortunately, her family is now going through some difficult circumstances, and it was best for Blanche to come back to us.

This tiny girl has already been through so much in her little life. She deserves some stability and, most of all, someone who will love her, spoil her, and let her be the little lap dog she was meant to be. 🥹💗

Blanche is around 4–5 years old and only about 5 lbs. She’s incredibly sweet and social, walks great on a leash, is kennel trained, and does well with other dogs and kids.

🏡 We’re looking for a foster or, even better, a forever home for Blanche.

💕 Smokey is a gentle giant with a heart full of love who is looking for a foster or, even better, a forever home. 💕

This sweet 3-year-old Great Dane recently had a gastropexy and was spayed, and she is recovering well. She is house trained, kennel trained, good with other dogs, loves cats, and does well with kids.

Smokey is about 90 lbs, making her a smaller Dane, but she has a huge personality! She’s goofy, incredibly sweet, and would love nothing more than to be your cuddle bug. 🥹💗

Yesterday we were notified about this giant teddy bear who had apparently decided a local car repair shop was a perfectly good place to hang out. 😂

He made himself comfortable there for a while… until the shop cat ran him off. Yes, this enormous dog was apparently no match for the resident cat. 😂

So he wandered next door to Take 5, where the employees were sweet enough to let him hang out inside the office with them for the day while they tried to figure out where he belonged.

I swung by after work to see if he was still there and scan him for a microchip — and thankfully, HE HAD ONE! 🙌

I called it in, got his owners’ information, and they answered right away and made plans to come pick up their giant runaway teddy bear. ❤️

Turns out he didn’t even live very far away, but somehow this big guy had crossed a very busy road during his little adventure, so we’re incredibly thankful he ended up somewhere safe.

Just another reminder of how important microchips are — and to make sure the contact information registered to your pet’s chip is up to date! This could have been a very different story, but instead this handsome wanderer got to go home. 🐾❤️

And a big thank you to the employees at Take 5 for giving him a safe, air-conditioned place to hang out while he waited for his ride home. 😂

Bunny recently got a VERY dramatic makeover. 😂 Her coat was so badly matted that she had to be completely shaved down, and we cannot stop laughing at the tiny little dog that was hiding underneath all that hair. 😂🩷

Bunny is about 1½ years old and has the BEST personality. She’s sweet, playful, funny, spunky, affectionate, and great with other dogs. She’s just an all-around happy little girl who is so much fun to have around.

Bunny is currently finishing doxycycline for ehrlichiosis. Once she’s finished, she’ll be spayed and ready for her forever family! 🩷

If you’re looking for an adorable little sidekick with a big personality (and a temporarily questionable haircut 😂), Bunny might be your girl!

Titan is a handsome young Great Pyrenees with the sweetest smile and an even sweeter personality. This lovable boy is looking for a foster or forever family where he can continue building confidence and learning the skills he needs to thrive.

Titan loves people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is ready for a fresh start with a family willing to invest a little time and patience in him. He isn’t neutered yet, so he’s looking for someone who can help him gain confidence and learn to walk on a leash so he can confidently walk into the clinic for his neuter appointment.
