Twelve pounds of fluid. That’s how much this poor boy was carrying in his belly. 💔

An update on the dog we recently rescued with the severely swollen stomach: he went to the vet for testing and X-rays, and the news was heartbreaking.

Our vet suspects Chagas disease, but we’re still waiting on confirmation. He also has a heart murmur and very pale gums. Given his condition and concerns about heart failure, euthanasia was discussed.

We asked them to send off the blood test so we can better understand what we’re facing. Results should take about a week. We also had the fluid drained from his abdomen to give him some much-needed relief.

He went in weighing 32.6 pounds. After draining the fluid, he weighed just 20.6 pounds. With that enormous belly gone, you can see how incredibly thin he really is. 😞

His vet expects the fluid to return, but we don’t know how quickly. For now, we’re focusing on his comfort—good food, gentle care, and all the love and spoiling he deserves. He has another appointment Monday with a veterinary office that treats Chagas disease to help us understand how advanced his condition may be and whether any treatment options could help him.

We don’t know what his future holds yet, but we want every decision to be guided by his comfort and quality of life. Right now, he is safe, loved, and getting care while we find answers. 🤍

His vet bill was $600, and $200 has been donated toward his care so far. We still need help covering the remaining $400, along with Monday’s appointment and any additional care he may need.

I spotted a dog in the median off I-35 near Von Ormy. After I pulled over and tried to help him, he ran into the highway—and froze as cars and an 18-wheeler came toward him.

I ran toward him, screaming, trying to scare him out of the road. Thankfully, it worked. He ran across the access road into a property full of broken-down cars.

Looking for him, I found a man living in a trailer with seven dogs. The dog was his.

Then I noticed a dog in a kennel with a belly so big I asked if she was pregnant.

“That’s a boy.”

His body is skin and bones, but his belly is the biggest I have ever seen on a dog. His owner said he has looked like this for THREE MONTHS and he couldn’t afford a vet.

I dewormed all seven dogs, got them treated for fleas and ticks, and vaccinated everyone except this boy, who needs a vet evaluation first. We also need to help get everyone spayed and neutered.

His owner agreed to surrender him and his two siblings: a black female and a brown male, around 10 months old and 30 pounds each. He wasn’t willing to surrender the others, but allowed me to help with their care.

We need FOSTERS for the two siblings to get them into rescue. Their brother will need one once we know his medical needs.

He is here with me tonight and sees our vet tomorrow morning. I’m hoping we reached him in time. I’ll update as soon as we have answers.

For three months, he’s been living like this. Tomorrow, we start finding out why—and how we can help him feel better. 🐾 Meet Margaux! 🤍

Margaux was found right off I-10, trying to get into a hotel. The hotel receptionist helped catch her and said someone had left her there on purpose not long before. 😢 Her rescuer brought her home to foster, and now this sweet girl is looking for her forever home!

Margaux is an adult German Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix, around 45–50 lbs, and an absolute LOVEBUG. 🥹 She follows her foster everywhere, lives for belly rubs, and gets so excited when her people come home that she cries happy little cries! She even has the cutest little whisper woofs instead of real barks. 😂

🐾 Gets along with dogs, cats & has been around kids
🐾 Spayed, super smart & eager to please!

Will come fully vetted — vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested.

She was shy and nervous at first, but she's blossomed into the most affectionate, loyal little shadow. All this girl wants is someone to love (and follow around the house). ❤️

Are you looking for someone who’s completely obsessed with you? Meet Jerry. 🥹

Jerry is a 1½-year-old little Maltese/Shih Tzu-looking sweetheart who just arrived from South Texas. His owner moved and left him behind, and now this loving boy is ready to find someone who will never leave him again.

Jerry wants to be wherever you are. He’ll follow you around, hop into your lap, and happily give you kisses. He’s friendly, walks on a leash, and is good with dogs, cats, and kids. He’s also ridiculously photogenic—somehow every picture of him is adorable. 📸

Jerry would love a home with someone who’s around often and wants a constant companion. He doesn’t enjoy being kenneled, so a home where he can spend plenty of time with his person would be a great fit.

He’s already been vaccinated and dewormed and is on preventative medication. He’ll be neutered soon and will receive his remaining vet care through our rescue.

Carter is a handsome 9-year-old male Cockapoo who has suddenly found himself looking for a new family after his beloved owner passed away. 💔
Carter was deeply loved by his person, and right now he is staying at a boarding facility while we search for someone who can give him the loving home he deserves. This has been a big change for this sweet boy, and he would really love to have a family to call his own again. ❤️
Don’t let his age fool you — Carter is surprisingly spry for 9! He has plenty of personality and companionship to give. He is happiest when he is with his people and does experience separation anxiety, so his ideal home would be one where someone is around much of the time.

🦁 Meet Mufasa! 🦁

Mufasa is a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees who didn’t have the best start in life, but you’d never know it from his incredibly sweet and gentle spirit. He’s resilient, loving, and has made so much progress since coming into our care.

At first, we couldn’t even leash him to go for a walk. Now, he walks on a leash and continues to grow more confident every day! Mufasa is kennel trained, quiet, good with other dogs and wonderful with children. He would make a gentle, devoted family dog for someone willing to give him the love and security he has always deserved.

Mufasa is ready to leave his past behind and find his forever family. ❤️
