The number of lost pets increases by 30% between July 4th and July 6th.

Alot of dogs are afraid of fireworks, heres a few things you can do to hep them.

KEEP PETS INDOORS
Don't bring your pets outside during the fireworks! Your pet could easily get scared and run away.
PROVIDE A QUIET PLACE
Prepare a place for your pet such as a quiet room, or kennel to help them feel secure. Remember their crate/kennel is their safe place!
GIVE THEM DISTRACTIONS: TOYS, TREATS, MUSIC
Treat toys such as kongs filled with peanut butter may help keep their minds busy and distract them from the fireworks. Music will also help to drown out the sound of the fireworks.
MICROCHIP & ID YOUR PETS
Your pets should always have proper identification tags, with up-to-date contact information. Microchipping is strongly recommended so please make sure that information is current! This will help, if your pet gets out, whoever finds them to contact you quickly.
WALK YOUR DOG EARLIER IN THE DAY AND WALK THEM LONGER
This is a great way to tire them out so that they can rest better later.

I haven’t posted in a while and this one was hard to write. I wrote it earlier on my personal page.

The dog behind the logo…

Jeannie was special. So so so very special. I went to purchase her brother and left with her instead. I sold a truck to buy her because I NEEDED her. What I didn’t realize at the time was Austin needed her more. I worked with her EVERY day all day. Jared didn’t do any training with her because I wanted her to bond with me, as females tend to bond better with male humans and vise versa. She didn’t listen to anyone but me. Any command. Immediately. She would help me pick up the kids toys from the floor. She’d often bring me things as an offering (toys, blankets, even Cheetos unopened). She was giant, but gentle. So so gentle. Any child, any age, could grab her leash and she’d never pull. She’d stay right by their side. When she was 9 months, I decided I wanted her to be Austin’s service dog. Not to tell us when he was going to have a seizure but for the after care. To help him be safe. At first, she wasn’t sure. Often looking back at me for further direction. When I’d say “go on” she’d follow him closely. Soon she loved him just as much as she loved me. Because we had already bonded, she’d alert me to my migraines 15-20 minutes before one would hit. She was so patient with Austin after a seizure. He would squeeze her fur as he was coming out of it and she’d stand there and wait until he told her he was ok. He loved for her to give him “fist bumps” and hugs. At first, she wouldn’t hug him because he was too small. But soon he grew and she had no problem giving hugs then. She LOVED to swing!! She could sit on the swing with him forever if he’d let her. She loved to cuddle. My sweet girl gave us 9 1/2 years of love and patience. 9 1/2 years of loyalty and trust. She hated puppies lol but she’d always help me correct them appropriately if needed. She loved her kids. All of them. Every time I’d let her out she’d run to austins room first to check on him. My sweet Jeannie We**ie, my I Dream Of Jeannie, I dreamed of you before I got you. And now I’ll dream that I still had you. To say we’re heartbroken is an understatement. We’re shocked. You still had so much life left. I’m sorry it was cut so short. I’ll love you forever my sweet girl and I’ll miss you always. 🐕‍🦺💕

Since it’s mid-summer I thought I’d share this info again…

Summer days can get really hot, especially if you live in Texas. Heat Stroke in dogs is real y’all! Know the signs and know what to do in case of heat stroke! You can prevent heat stroke by keeping your pets cool and always giving them access to fresh water and shade! Brachycephalic dogs, like pugs, boxers and bulldogs are the most likely candidates for heat stroke, although ANY dog can get heat stroke! Always remember to never leave your dog in a car, even if the windows are cracked! Temperatures inside vehicles rise higher than the temperature outside and they rise quickly.
It’s also extremely important to protect your pet’s paws! Place your hand on the pavement and hold it for 5-10 seconds. If it’s too hot for YOU, it’s too hot for YOUR DOG! Continue daily walks, but be aware and prevent burned paws. PLEASE walk early in the morning or in the evening when temperatures have cooled down and NEVER during the heat of the day.
Yes, it’s true! Pets can get Sunburned too! Apply some pet safe sunscreen and always provide a shaded area for your dogs.

This is Luna! She’s a beautiful Border Collie! She is so extremely smart but needs work on impulse control and some manners. She learns very quickly and I love working with this sweet girl!

The dog behind the logo has turned 8 years old today! She’s loved beyond measure and loves us beyond measure in return! she’s definitely looking her age but she still has so much energy and is just as rambunctious as she was when she was a puppy! We love you Jeannie Happy 8th Birthday!! 💕
