Majors Art I am an amateur artist who paints equestrian portraits and art commissions to fund my own equine addictions. No AI!

I ride and train my own horses in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, where I sometimes dabble in endurance riding and photography.

Stripping antique furniture is NOT as easy as the YouTube videos make it look, I assure you. One down, one to go.

Hello all! Apparently my brain needed a painting hiatus, I just have NOT been able to mix a single color to save my life in a few months, but the itch is slowwwwwly returning. Meanwhile, I've been busy trapping these two furry feral hoodlums, taming and getting them vaccinated and troublepuffs removed, and completely reorganizing my garage for another project...reupholstering some beat up antique chairs we were given! I've plucked a few thousand tacks, nails, and staples, and it seems to be scratching my brain itch to stop seeing in layers and color for a bit...just in time for my tax return deposit to hit so I can order the cowhides and woven blankets I have in mind 😎
I have other exciting plans for this space over the coming year too, to be shared later once I make sure it's not a totally stupid idea. ðŸĪŠ

It's been a very long season of tax prep, catching up on paperwork, taming FOUR feral cats that showed up all at once, fixing busted hot water heaters, and all sorts of other less fun projects, but we will be resuming these three paintings soon and our freshly virtual-fitted saddle is in the mail! Merida is ready to get back out there.

EVENT HOST IN CALIFORNIA NEEDED!

Hello everyone! I am helping my beloved friend and gifted saddle fitter Adrienne Hendricks of Eagle, ID to arrange a saddle fitting clinic here in California (admittedly, so I can get her here for my mare's next much-needed in person saddle adjustment!). Adrienne is an expert english saddle fitter, and will work with any kind of saddle to advise on anatomical fit, padding and balancing needs, tree integrity, repairs, rider balance, etc. and she can do full re-flocking of english saddles on site! She will also be back this July as well for Tevis, and has fit more than a few finishers of this world-renowned endurance event. For more info on Adrienne, including saddle-fitting videos and education, please check out her website: https://englishsaddle.com/

We are looking for a friendly, calm facility in the Loomis or surrounding areas that can offer:
1) easy parking for at least two horse trailers at a time
2) a larger covered area where she can set up her work tables, and where several fitting appointment horses can wait and be handled without being too close to one another
3) some kind of riding area where riders can test ride their saddles--arena, round pens, trails, etc. that is reasonably safe for equestrian use.
4) wifi for on-site digital payment processing
5) availability on Saturday, March 21st afternoon, and Sunday March 22nd all day
If you are interested in hosting this clinic, please reach out to me
ASAP! A free saddle fitting in trade may be avalable ;)

This one is going to be FUN, and HARD, and I can already tell it's not going to photograph well at all! There are purples, blues, brown, and reds in there, and the dust is already so much better in person just at the imprimatura layer, and I still have many layers to go--but the cameras just are not doing it any justice. I am learning to take my time with this one, letting the layers dry rather than painting alla prima like I usually do.
And yes, this big guy will be for sale. At some point. I might have to enjoy him in my livingroom for a while!
