Happy International Dog Day to my soul dog, Oaklea.

She found me when I was 20, and somehow, we’ve spent the last 11 years growing up together.

She’s been there through the moves, heartbreak, loss, surgeries, new careers, new homes, and every version of me in between. I often joke that she’s the single thread holding my life together, but honestly, I’m not really joking.

Oaklea helped me survive my twenties. She was there before Sit. Stay. Sloan. was ever an idea, and without her, I truly don’t know how I would have made it this far.

My constant, my passenger princess, and my soul dog. I love you, Oaklea. Thank you for staying.

School is back, which means new friends, new classmates, and a whole lot of playdates are about to happen.

And while your dog might be the best dog in the world, they don’t need to be included in every activity happening in your home.

A house full of unfamiliar kids can be overwhelming. The running, yelling, sudden movements, toys, snacks, and excitement can push even a normally social dog past their comfort zone.

Giving your dog a quiet, kid free space isn’t punishment. It’s responsible pet ownership. It gives them the ability to decompress and removes the pressure to tolerate interactions they didn’t ask for.

You know your dog best, but remember: even the most trusted dog is still a dog. We don’t wait for a bite to decide a situation wasn’t safe.

Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for your dog is let them sit this one out.

Send them on an adventure with our Doggie Day Camp! 2 hours of hiking, structured socialization, exercise, and enrichment, followed by a decompression break before heading home.

You drop them off. We handle the adventure. They come home happy and exhausted.

Four Saturdays. Four adventures. Very tired dogs. 😉

Our Doggie Day Camps are designed for pups who need more than just a day of running around. They’ll get 2 hours of on-leash hiking, structured socialization, exercise, and mental stimulation with our Care Crew.

Then it’s time for a decompression break before we load up and head home. 🚗💤

And the best part? Your pup will be back home by 11:00 AM—happy, tired, and ready for a well-earned nap.

• August 29 — Yellow Fork Canyon Trail
• September 5 — Spring View Farms Trail
• September 12 — Bridal Veil Falls
