APPA IS HOME!!

After a night in the hospital on iv fluids and receiving several enemas, a good chunk of appa’s impaction is resolved. She is now on an updated regimen of meds and fluids with a couple more diet changes. We are really hoping we can keep her going for awhile 🤞🥺

We also ordered her a new heating pad with built in massage, which she is loving. Since megacolon is a progressive disease, we and her wonderful foster are just trying to be as diligent as possible with her care. Russell is also so happy to have his girl home and is grooming the yucky vet smell off her 😂

🚨🚨SOS🚨🚨

True Hearts fam, we need your help with a medical emergency. Appa, our megacolon bunny, has a severe impaction and needs to be hospitalized to try to clear up her colon. As you can see, the high end of our estimate is $1700, and to be honest, we just don’t have it.

Between specialized care and surgeries for Nosey and Dante and ongoing care for other bunnies in the rescue, (Zira, Ken, and Linus have all seen the vet multiple times in the last few weeks) we’ve spent $6k on vetting this month and are totally wiped out. If Appa can’t stay in the hospital to get the care she needs, our only other option is euthanasia. Please help us (and her bondmate, Russell) help our girl! ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Happy , true hearts fam! Here’s the update you’ve been waiting for on our little “nose bun.”

He underwent a two hour surgery last Saturday where his abscess was lanced and pus was removed from the top of his head down his whole nose as you can see. He also had two teeth removed and his nose debrided of the dead tissue (which we’ve also done again this past week).

As expected, his syphilis test came back positive, but he is EC negative, and the culture showed that we have him on all the correct meds. He has developed some neurological deficits that are a little hard to see, but we’re working on those and hoping we can find a solution. Other than that, he’s been eating and binkying and is already feeling much better.

So far, we’ve spent about $3k on him, so as much as hate to do it, we’ll have to post more fundraisers and a fun raffle soon! We hope you’re enjoying the holiday with your furry friends 🤍

Our new little man, Rew, is seriously the best and most chill. He is super social and will make himself at home wherever he feels most comfy 😂 he loves to be pet, give kisses, hang out with his foster family’s dogs, and would LOVE a bunny friend. He’s ready to go to an amazing foster to adopt home for bonding! Let us know if you think that might be you 😉

Sooooo. We took in a little bit of a project bun yesterday. 🫣

We had been looking at this little guy on a local shelter website and noticed that his nose seemed to be rapidly deteriorating from the time he was posted for intake ➡️ adoption. Well, last night he came to the rescue, and we were shocked at the condition he is in.

His nose is quite literally being eaten away by what we suspect is syphilis. He needs surgery to debride and open his nostrils because he can’t currently intake enough air. His incisors are a mess and they will need to be removed, and last but not least, his entire head in an abscess 🫠🫠 so yeah, now you can see why his new nickname at our vet’s office is “hot mess express.”

Right now, the estimate for his first surgery which includes abscess repair, nasal debridement, and neuter is $1775. We know we’ll for sure have to spend that much on his dental as well, and possibly multiple other surgeries on his nose and/or abscess depending on how healing goes.

To some of you this might seem crazy, but he is precisely why we do what we do. This little man is full of a zest for life and is happy, eating tons, and seemingly relieved to be getting the care he deserves. I know it seems like we’ve been fundraising endlessly lately, but please help us get this little bun life changing care so that he can live a long and healthy life 🫂

🥁ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT📣

Shu’s fosters knew he was going to make a good husbun to a lucky lady bunny from the moment he was rescued. We can now announce that the lady is Boots!

Boots and Shu also live with your favorite local vegan influencer, 😉

Shu and Boots left to go home from their initial meet in a carrier together and haven’t been apart since. These two were an instant match and are so happy to have found each other. We’re thrilled for both of them!

🥁ADOPTION ANNOUNCEMENT📣

Theo (formerly Jiji) is bonded and adopted!! Some of you may have seen some sneak peeks of their adorable hijinks and bonding process over on (our favorite vegan spot) Instagram!

Jiji and Snow White had an almost instant love connection and are so happy to be with each other. And guess what?! Jiji isn’t the only alumbun to join the crew. We’ll have another announcement coming tomorrow 🎉

We are happy and relieved to announce that we just received our last transport of 3 buns from a rural shelter where they were scheduled to go to auction last friday. So we were able to save 5 bunnies this last week thanks to fosters stepping up and donations coming in. We've already spayed and neutered our first 2 rabbits yesterday and have appointments for the rest the following 2 weeks.
We were able to save:
Large black female who has cage aggression but is just misunderstood and needs time to decompress
Small little sweet boy orange lionhead from another rural shelter where his outcome was likely not going to be good
The happiest pretty black male with pretty blue eyes and too many hormones
The tiniest little mini rex female we've ever had, with such a petite little head and paws and is super sweet
None of these bunnies had a good future until we took them, and we're so glad we can give them the medical care, time to heal, space to bunny, and love to blossom. Without the amazing volunteers who transport shelter animals, fosters, and our donors, we couldn't save any bunny. Individual updates and profiles to come soon on everybun. We're so excited to get to share their journey
