How Much Exercise Does Your Dog Really Need?
You love your dog. But you also work full days, Kansas weather has a mind of its own, and sometimes, after a long day, the couch wins.
So here’s the question many dog owners quietly ask themselves:
“Am I walking my dog enough?”
The short answer? Most dogs need regular daily walks, but the right amount depends on the dog. Age, breed, energy level and overall health all play a role.
A young, high-energy dog may need 60 minutes or more of activity each day, while a senior dog may be perfectly happy with two short, gentle walks. Puppies usually do better with several short outings rather than one long walk.
For many average adult dogs, 30 to 60 minutes of walking each day is a good general starting point.
And if your schedule makes that difficult, that's OK. That's where DogWalkQuest from Adventures In Pet Sitting can help. A midday walk can give your dog a chance to stretch their legs, get some exercise and enjoy a little mental stimulation while you're at work.

So let's take the guilt out of the question and look at what your dog may actually need.
How Much Walking Does Your Dog Need?
There isn't one magic number that works for every dog. A 10-pound senior Chihuahua and a young Border Collie aren't going to have the same exercise needs!
Use the guide below as a starting point, then adjust based on your dog's age, breed, energy level and individual needs.
And remember: quality matters, too. A walk isn't just about burning energy. Sniffing, exploring and experiencing new sights and smells provide valuable mental stimulation for your dog.
