There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes of exceptional veterinary care—and our veterinary technicians are at the heart of so much of it. ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

From assisting with exams and procedures to monitoring anesthesia, performing laboratory work, providing nursing care, educating pet owners, and offering a reassuring presence when pets need it most, veterinary technicians bring an incredible combination of skill, knowledge, and compassion to their work every day. 🐾

During Veterinary Technician Week, October 18–24, we’re proud to recognize the dedicated members of our team who do so much for our patients, clients, and fellow team members.
To our veterinary technicians: thank you for the expertise you bring, the care you give, and the difference you make for Gateway’s patients every single day.

Hello there Gateway Family!
🐾 Meet Hank - he needs a new home šŸ

Hank is:
~ Male, Neutered, 1 year old
~ American Staffordshire Terrier Mix
~ About 60 lbs
~ Up to date on all his vaccines

He is such a sweet, cuddly, joyful guy! He's being rehomed because he requires an owner that can help him utilize all the energy he has. He's young so he requires both physical and mental stimulation. He gets along very well with other dogs, cats and kids. He's incredibly smart and will also need someone who is willing to work with on some of his training. Hank would be a great addition if you're looking for an active, loving and energetic pup. ⚔

If you, or anyone you may know, would like to learn more about Hank: please message us or give us a call at (727) 577 - 6500. Thank you!

Hurricane season is in full swing, and preparation can make all the difference for you and your pets. šŸŒ€

Make sure your pet’s emergency kit includes food, water, medications, current ID information, a leash or carrier, and copies of important medical and vaccination records. It’s also a good time to make sure prescriptions are filled and vaccines are up to date before severe weather is on the way. šŸ’Š

September is Healthy Aging Month, making it a great time to check in on the health of your senior pet. 🐾

As pets age, their healthcare needs change. Regular wellness exams and routine screenings can help us monitor those changes and identify potential concerns early, sometimes before you notice signs at home. 🩶

Changes in weight, appetite, mobility, behavior, or bathroom habits can all be worth discussing with your veterinarian.
Is your senior pet due for a checkup? Call Gateway Animal Hospital at 727-577-6500 to schedule an appointment.

Keeping your pet appropriately vaccinated is an important part of preventive care and helps protect them from serious diseases. Your veterinarian can recommend a vaccination schedule based on your pet’s age, lifestyle, health, and individual risk factors.

Back-to-school season can get hectic quickly. Between new schedules, activities, drop-offs, and everything else on the family calendar, take a minute to check one small but important thing: your pet’s ID tag.

Make sure it’s secure, easy to read, and includes your current phone number. It’s a simple step that can make a big difference if your pet ever slips out an open door or gets away from home.

While you’re at it, it’s a great time to check that your pet’s microchip information is current, too!

A microchip can help reunite you with your pet if they ever go missing—but it’s important to make sure the contact information connected to their chip stays current.

Check the Chip Day is the perfect reminder to verify your pet’s microchip registration, especially if you’ve moved or changed phone numbers recently.

Not sure if your pet is microchipped? Gateway Animal Hospital can help. Give us a call at 727-577-6500.
