❤️‍🩹 Fire Kitties ❤️‍🩹

I know many people have asked for our updates on our survivors of our big fire that took place two weeks ago today. Honestly, it’s taken me some time to process both the lost and the survivors. Although I am extremely blessed to have had 22 survivors of this tragedy; our lost 23 never go unforgotten. It’s truly a miracle that anyone survived, let alone 22 beautiful souls.

As of now, all of our surviving fire kitties are all settled in with our fosters; and doing well. They are all being closely monitored for smoke inhalation affects ongoing. None of our fire kitties are currently available for adoption as our team and the cats all need time to heal and recover.

The survivors of my personal cat’s are: Gus, Koda, Winslow, Boots and Timber (is a foster return, who was out in “general pop” with my cats).

The rescue survivors are: CJ, Mae, Skippy, Arthur, TwElvis, Blitzer, Rumble, Boomer, Momo (sadly will loose the tips of her ears due to burns), Mama Raya and 7 kittens.

These 22 beautiful souls continue to show us just how resilient they are and how they are true survivors. All of these cats have come from severely traumatic situations to begin with; and then experienced another very traumatic situation within my own walls, walls that were supposed to be their safety. Our team worked extremely hard to stabilize and care for everyone after the fire and we will continue to work together for each one of these beautiful survivors. I am so blessed by our team, all stepping up to help these babies in a time of need. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to help.

Two weeks after the fire that destroyed our HQ, we’re still working hard to get every cat settled safely into foster homes.

The 22 surviving cats and kittens from the fire are doing well, but they won’t be adoptable for some time while they continue healing physically and emotionally.

To help make room for the fire kitties, we’re incredibly grateful to Pet Haven Of Minnesota, Angel of Hope Animal Rescue, and Redemption Road Rescue for taking in several of our non-fire cats.

That leaves just 2 non-fire cats still looking for homes — and getting this duo adopted would help us fully focus on rebuilding KKR and giving the fire cats the stability they need without more moving around.

“THE LOVE HAS BEEN OVERWHELMING” - A fire at Kitten Kam Rescue claimed the lives of nearly two dozen cats, and the community started helping the survivors IMMEDIATELY. Conor Wight and photojournalist Nick Boeke capture the moment when the owner learned her last missing cat was found alive.
