I recently had the honor of designing and creating a custom welcome sign for my friend and mentor, Laura, as a thank you gift for speaking at the fantastic Cooperative Care seminar hosted by the Positive Solutions for A Sound Beginning team. 💙

The sign features silhouettes of her three adorable furry family members along with a handmade bow. The bow can easily be removed for a simpler everyday look or swapped out seasonally for a fresh new style.

One of my favorite parts of what I do is creating custom pieces that are uniquely meaningful and personal to the people receiving them. Getting to bring special ideas like this to life is always such an honor. ✨

This colorful “All Are Welcome” sign was recently donated to help support a fundraising event for Dupage County Animal Services, and it is truly one of my favorite signs. For this piece, I challenged myself to create the rainbow gradient entirely with spray paint — layering and blending the colors to create that bright, happy, seamless fade 🌈

I love creating pieces that help make a home feel warm, welcoming, and safe for everyone who walks through the door 💛

So happy the weather was perfect to take a little therapeutic dip in the pool today to celebrate our Scout's 14th Birthday! 🎂🐾🎈

Special shout-out to Scout's vet, Dr. Tartoff at The Whole Pet, who helped get us here today after Scout tore his ACL last July. His treatments have been critical to keep him comfortable and moving. Some days are harder than others, but we are thankful for every day we get to spend with him, however long that is. 💕

Wishing a happy heavenly birthday to his littermates as well 🩷. Those sweet pups will not be soon forgotten.

Graduation season is upon us! 👨‍🎓👩‍🎓

This is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece I was commissioned to make as a gift for a student at the University of South Caroliana (go Gamecocks!). Made from wood and flood coated with resin, and yes, cutting, painting, and gluing those tiny pieces was a pain but totally worth it 😅

So proud of my River girl... we practiced her chin rest before her yearly check-up last week, and she did so well during her ear and eye exam that her vet complimented her on her sweet skills. 🥰

A chin rest may look simple, but it’s a powerful Cooperative Care behavior 💙

In this photo, this dog team is practicing a chin rest for a mock ear exam — learning that handling and care can predict safety, communication, and reinforcement instead of stress or restraint. Chin rests give dogs a clear way to voluntarily participate in care while helping handlers recognize when the dog is comfortable and ready to continue.

Practicing Cooperative Care behaviors ahead of time creates Positive Solutions for success during the real thing — whether that’s veterinary care, grooming, ear cleanings, nail trims, or other husbandry tasks. When we build these skills through trust and positive reinforcement, everyone benefits.
