One day I found myself in a position of needing more income and I thought to myself, why not do something you love and earn a living? From that, Tails 'N Trails was born. I have owned, trained and competed with my boxers for over 20 years. I've had many years of training in obedience, agility, and nosework and have been fascinated with dog behavior, learning about an using positive and fear-free m

ethods on my own dogs. My dogs presently and over the past years have multiple titles in these sports. I'm a firm believer that a dog's well-being is a trifecta which includes exercise, proper nutrition (I feed a species appropriate diet) and enrichment. If you have a good balance in these three areas you will have a happy, more behaved dog. It can help eliminate unwanted behaviors, because their needs are being met. I also managed a small barn for 10 years. There I took care of horses and mini-donkeys and the day to day care that was required. I am First Aid/CPR certified for Pets. With me you get experience, reliability, and animals I will love and take care of like my own.

This weekend was a special one for our team—we officially earned our NW3 title in K9 Nose Work! 🐾

To earn this title, teams have to successfully search multiple areas in one day: interiors, exteriors, containers, and vehicles, all while locating an unknown number of hides ranging from 0-3.

Each search is different and requires dogs to work independently while handlers learn to read their dog’s behavior and trust their nose.

I’m incredibly proud of my girl and the teamwork it took to get here. Training and competing with my own dogs continues to deepen my understanding of canine behavior and enrichment—things I love bringing into the care of the dogs I work with every day.

Mental enrichment like scent work can be incredibly fulfilling for dogs, and it’s something I love incorporating into visits whenever appropriate.

Dogs really are amazing. 💛

This past weekend we said good bye to a very special soul.

Sweet Zach crossed the rainbow bridge and our hearts are heavy. Even though he was almost 13, it’s just never enough time. He was one of the sweetest dogs i know.

It’s been an absolute honor to care for him and be trusted with him over the years. To Diane, his incredible Mom, please know how loved he was by me and everyone who knew him!
