Equipment Maintenance Day!

As a cat groomer who grooms in your home, keeping my equipment clean and in running order is critical.

This is the ClipperVac Tote and is used to provide what is called the Teddy Bear or Plush Cut.

This cut is a Lion Cut with leaving a little more hair on the body.

Today, I thoroughly cleaned the inside, checked the brushes and replaced the door gasket, and it’s now ready for my next kitty client.

Tonight, the CAT NIGHTS begin! 🐱 A rather obscure old Irish legend said that a witch could turn herself into a cat eight times, but on the ninth time (August 17), she couldn’t regain her human form. This bit of folklore also gives us the saying, “A cat has nine lives.”

It was great to see one of my OG cats, Grace Kelly. She had some underbelly matting with her fine silky hair and small little mats close to the skin everywhere else.

Since I hadn’t seen her for awhile because of my knee surgeries, Mom tried to clip up the ruff so she wouldn’t keep getting hair in her mouth.

Grace received a ruff trim, full belly and sanitary shave, nail trims, a bath and a good blow-dry and deshed.

Grace will be returning in 6 weeks to keep the shedding and matting under control.

Another thing that absolutely blows my mind is how many people take a cat out of a carrier when they’re out in the open—whether it’s to show them to someone or hand them over.

Personally, I never want to hold a cat in an open area that they are not familiar with! Even the sweetest, friendliest, most well-socialized cat can become startled in an unfamiliar environment. It only takes one loud noise or one unexpected movement for them to panic, and once they bolt, they can disappear in seconds.

No matter how tame a cat is, it’s just not a risk I’m willing to take.
